Sorry, Ethan, I deleted all those photos out of my computer when I finished, and right now it looks like Jake is MIA. I did do a darker avocado, though. Green balances orange well. Orange also looks great with ivory. I love orange too, but prefer it as an accent color. That sofa is a huge block of orange. However, I've seen so many beautiful photos of designer rooms I'm convinced that a good designer could come along and make that sofa look fabulous.

Thank you for so many replies, and I apologize for not checking back all weekend. I will try to respond to as many questions as I can. Her room right now is painted a pale yellow, which I thought would look nice when I bought the bedding (which is Amy Butler "Sari Bloom", purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond). It turns out that the yellow really doesn't go with the bedding at all. It makes everything look very choppy. Her headboard is the same colour as the picture shown, although it is a bookshelf style headboard, not upholstered. She likes the navy blue mock up the best, but she acknowledges that the light pink is very pretty. I'm definitely leaning heavily towards the light pink. I think we'll probably paint the room the light pink colour and have her live with it for a little. After that, if she still feels like she wants the navy, we'll paint the accent wall and leave the other walls light pink. In this case I would probably put light pink curtains on the window on the accent wall to soften the navy a bit and to tie in the other walls. Sound like a good plan?

I have to ask. Why can't you go to a paint store and see the paint chips even if you can't see them in the intended location? It's less than optimum but imperatIve in the process. You should color test your short list of favs on boards and just view them in different times of day and with the types of bulbs you plan to use. If you're very close to the sea you're gong to get some reflected cool light coming into the rooms. I recommended going with the cool grays that many have suggested, not warm grays like revere pewter or coastal fog. Gray owl, stonington or wickham are all lovely. Wickham has the most blue in it so careful with your sofa that it's a blend that works.

I would not paint the brick. You take a no maintenance product and turn it into a long term maintenance issue. Deco has a good idea of beefing up the columns. If a new front door is not in the budget then paint the one you have and add a POP of color to the front of the house, drawing the eye to the entrance. None of your windows are appropriate for shutters. They would have to be so wide to cover the windows that they would not look right. If you're going to use white then use one color of white for the trim and the windows. If you use two different whites the one on the trim is going to end up looking dingy when seen with the windows. Your shingles are a brown so I would stay away from black. You could paint the trim taupe (brown/gray), sage green, etc. and leave the windows white. If you wanted to do a porch rail I would paint it the same color as the trim. New landscaping would of course also help.
