Off White Painted Cabinets or Off white with Cocoa Glaze

We are about to order our cabinets and need help making a decision on the color of the off white cabinets we are choosing. We are going with a combination of off white and a deep walnut hue similar to the Christopher Peacock kitchen style that I so love. We can't decide on the pure off white, or incorporating a cocoa glaze. i can't tell which are more common from the Christopher Peacock or other high end designer's ads. The difference in our kitchen is that we are using a custom antique brass range hood - the hightlight of our kitchen. I LOVE the simplicity and pureness of a creamy white kitchen, however, there's a part of me that wonders if the glaze ties the hood in with everything. I'm so torn. Thoughts?

Your range hood is gorgeous. I think that the off-white glazed cabinets would look stunning with the range hood, i think they would defintely compliment each other. The plain white would look to simple next to that hood.
In the magazine picture of the kitchen you posted, those cabinets look white with no glaze and the kitchen has a very crisp, formal look to it. I think the range hood that you picked looks very warm and the cabinets would look beutiful with the glaze.

I agree the white with the glaze will go better with the hood you have picked. I decided to go with a slight glaze for the cabinets in my kitchen. I personally love the look but I have found it also hides a lot. You have to go with what you love.

What color is your floor? Drapes? Counters? I just had a color consult for my cream w/brown glazed cabinets, hazelnut (dark) hardwood, and granite (greys, blacks & browns), cream trim, brown, turquise & gold drapery treatment, and they suggested a milk chocolate paint color. I'm waiting for the sample to see if it will work.

I also had my kitchen trim color computer-matched by the painters at the paint store using a piece of extra cabinet trim. Here is a photo showing a doorway trimmed, as well as our cedar board ceiling (painted with a translucent white-wash) and heavy beams that were painted the trim color. The color is extremely close to the "Swiss Coffee" color of my Kountry Kraft cabinets (which is NOT even close to BM's "Swiss Coffee" btw.) Personally, I think matching the trim is the way to go with the traditional, clean lines of a painted white kitchen. Good luck to you! PS. The blue tape in the photo is marking areas the GC still has to deal with. We redid our entire house and had a TERRIBLE painting crew!!! They got paint on the floors, faucets, sinks, toilets, new doorknobs, etc., etc. AND they DIDN'T paint the tops of ANY doors, any tops of door trim, basically any place they had to get on a ladder to do, or any place they didn't think we'd notice. BEWARE your GC's "finishers"!!! Make sure they are experienced professionals and won't bring in a crew of day-laborers who can't speak English!

With that awesome hood you can't go wrong in either direction.
It is wonderful...both would look good, so go with what your
instinct tells you. Can't wait to see!

What did you end up choosing for your counters? Marble, slate, soapstone???

If you are going with marble, I vote for the no glaze. If you are going with something else, I vote for glaze.

Can someone please suggest a Minwax color stain to make a glaze for my Linen White Painted Cabinets? Thanks

Can't go wrong w/ either one. I think the glazed look makes it look warmer and more worn in, while the off white will be a cleaner look. Either will loook great w/ your hood. (The Peacock kitchen does not seem to me to be glazed, btw). Think Cleo 2007 is right that the choice might come down to what countertop you picked...

Definitly think the cream cabinets with the glaze would look the best with your gorgeous range hood!!!
