From the photos they look very close to the real thing. I would think you'd be fine as long as you like them after seeing them in person. As far as the pattern, when you say a brick pattern do you mean that each row will be offset 1/2 tile from the row below? Accordng to our tile sub the only upcharge on tile setting was if you specced a diagonal pattern or if you had a more complicated design than just straight rows of tile (i.e. a pinwheel pattern). We would not have been charged extra for a brick pattern as it's still just straight rows of tile.

I like the tiles. But like mydreamhouse said, I think the charge for laying them in a brick pattern is a little steep, if warranted at all, since they are still laid in a straight line.

I did a brick pattern in several places in my house (all my showers and my master bath floor), and there was no upcharge. It's easy to lay!

Laying tile in a brick pattern should not cost extra as there's no more labor involved than if layed in a conventional pattern.
Ask your contractor why he gets an upcharge for the brick pattern.

Since it's a upgrade through the builder, they can charge what they feel like and we have to pay for it.

Can anyone keep me some more info on these tiles? I've searched over and over but cant find any info. Are they ceramic with a expensive tile pattern on them? Would these be ok for the kitchen and all the washrooms? Does it usually look better to have different tiles in the washrooms and different ones in the kitchen?

I just took a similar style tile out of my kitchen. Not the tile's fault -- it was the patching done as part of my kitchen reno that was poorly done and ate at me to the point that we decided to rip it out and start over while putting hardwoods in the rooms that didn't get new flooring before. We had crema marfil in our entry and powder room and the porcelain tile in the master bath ad laundry room as well as the kitchen, breakfast and family room. I always thought both looked good.

I understand what you mean about the builder can say he's going to charge whatever he likes, but really, it's not like people are standing in line to have houses built these days. It doesn't mean you can't ask the builder why he feels he needs to charge more to have a tile laid in a straight line with offsetting joints instead of grid joints. It is not harder or more work. If it's that he has to communicate that to the tile setter -- offer to do it yourself and let him sleep in. I paid extra to have my tile done in a pinwheel in the kitchen and family rooms as well as on the diagonal in the master bath, but it wasn't that much and it was much more complicated to lay. It's been a while, but I think it was $1 to $1.50 a square foot for those patterns plus there was additional tile waste allowed. Your brick pattern shouldn't require more tile -- but maybe he's thinking it would?

The trend these days is to have fewer flooring materials, so one in all those rooms would be fine.

Would you have a photo of the floor before you changed it? My biggest fear is I have no clue how it would look in a room...I have to decide by tomorrow and still not too sure. Also do you know what these tiles are made of?

Not sure it this is something that you'd think about. I (personally) wouldn't use ceramic tile. I'd go for porcelain. We laid ceramic tile in our last kitchen and I dropped a large roaster on the floor and it cracked one of the tiles. My husband had to crack it out and replace. Was a big pain. In our next kitchen and bathrooms, we put down porcelain. I've dropped lots of stuff and no cracks or chips. It's harder and the outside doesn't chip as easily. You can't use a tile nipper or one of those quick tile cutters. It has to be done with a tile saw because it's too hard. Just a thought to add to your confusion. :)

Are you in Canada? I googled around and it looks like these are made by Anatolia tile and are $.99 a square foot retail.
