Happy Thanksgiving! We haven't been able to host for a few years, because of building and living in a single wide mobile home while we did...But we're back on track this year. It will happen, everyone. You'll be baking in your new ovens, and using your great new workspaces. But enjoy this year, too...It's about family and thankfulness, not really about the food or the kitchen it comes from. (OK, it makes a tad more fun!) Anyway, have a great and special day!

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. (I'm especially thankful this year I have a daughter-in-law and fellow mother-in-law cooking away to load up the table with me.)

Someone sent this to me, so I pass it along for those fond of fine poetry:

Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldnÂt sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned, the dark meat and white,
but I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning, with anticipation,
the thought of a snack became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,
and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey, and buttered potatoes,
pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling, so plump and so round,
Âtil all of a sudden I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky
with a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees,
"Happy eating to all, pass the cranberries, please!!"
May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious, may your pies take the prize,
and may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs!

This is a great time to thank the many, many posters on this site whose examples and advice were invaluable in shaping our kitchen design and bringing it to fruition. I learned so much from you, and I'm so grateful for your generosity and for this wonderful Web site.

This is our first Thanksgiving with our new kitchen, and we're not even hosting. But I'm making half the meal that we'll be eating at our neighbor's house, and it's been so much fun using my new range top and newer, better pots and pans.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow GWebers! I don't know how I would have done this kitchen remodel without you. I have learned so much and been so inspired by your beautiful kitchens and more importantly been encouraged by your generosity and willingness to help others. As I reflect on all that I have to be thankful for, I will remember each of you.

A special thanks to all my GW friends who have helped me through our not-yet done remodel! I really couldn't have done it without you!

BTW...we had someone in to give us an estimate for painting and he told us it was one of the nicest kitchens he had seen done by my KD's (large) company...and I attribute it to all of you helping me come up with a good design, getting me through the many problems, and giving me moral support if there was nothing else you could do!

Our kitchen is not yet functional but I have high hopes that it will be soon (our new induction tange arrives on the 15th and Hubby plans to have everything ready for it by then). If so, we'll just beat the one-year mark (we started December 22nd).

I so appreciate each of you and this wonderful forum.

This will be my 3rd Thanksgiving thinking I was going to be entertaining in my new home but alas I am still in my old, too tiny house.

I think daily about how blessed I felt when we moved to this house 13 yrs ago. I remember thinking it was a mansion & that I would never move, ha , that was many children ago. I want my children to always feel thankful & never entitled & I know it starts with me. I am forever grateful still for my beautiful, too tiny home. I am decorating lavishly, cooking wonderful food and having another large family come for dinner to celebrate all we have to be thankful for.

It is not about what we have it is about what we do with what we have that makes a difference.

May all of you have a blessed day !

We are in the midst of it and my GC pulled my old range in and hooked it
up so that I could heat up the purchased feast from Mimis!

As long as we all get to sit down together...dust and all...I am thankful!
