Granite But Looks Like Marble
Comments (3)here was my dream find that turned into disappointment as there weren't enough slabs of the lot that was perfect (they only had 2), nor were the slabs big enough for my island. It's a quartzite, so more pricey than granite. It would need a bit more care than most granites, but not as much as marble. I was only able to find it at one location in all of Chicagoland. Happy hunting!! Sky Pearl Quartzite...See Morecountertop granite quartz vs corian
Comments (10)I am a fabricator. Pick the look you like 1st and then evaluate the different materials. With respect to chipping; either quartz or most granites are very chip resistant if the top corner of the edge is radiused at 3/8" or greater. I believe the vast majority of chipping complaints for either material are due to a sharp top radius. Any of the options you are considering should be durable. I have to disagree with others that assert that granite can't take hot pans. In 18 years I've only had one countertop failure due to heat and that was a lady that had four "lefse" burners set out for a party so the stone was subjected to hot spots for several hours. I move hot pans directly from my stove and oven on to my granite all the time with no ill effects....See Morelooking for quartz that looks like marble.
Comments (24)Can you get to Central New Jersey? Go to the MSI showroom. They're lovely, and helpful, and you can see full slabs of of the quartz. If you can, bring one of your cabinet doors. I was having a problem finding the right white since many quartzes I looked at were too creamy. I went there recently and found something I love, and bought, that's new, not even on their website or in any kitchen showrooms I've been to. I bought a piece, Calacatta Bruno, because it's great in my bathroom, but they've got loads. Also, they'll ask who sent you. Have a name ready, like your contractor, or Home Depot, or anything. I'm just not sure if you can say you just walked in on your own. It's not a big deal. https://www.msisurfaces.com/edison-nj-new-york-countertop-showroom/...See MoreWhat is this marble like counter that feels like Corian? Amazing match
Comments (4)That’s likely super large format tile, with mitered edges. Like Dekton, Laminam, Florim, and other large porcelain slabs. It has a matte “hand” to it in the non glossy versions. It’s commonly specified for architectural cladding....See More2LittleFishies
