Another August, another 'I hate everything' post
Comments (3)I know next year I'm not going to plant impatients in full sun, be it the north side of a round bed, in a year with no rain. I'm still askeared of very wide beds. About 2 weeks ago I visited Spring Ledge Gardens in New London NH. It's really a small nursery, farmstand but they have an absolutely impressive wide bed with some very tall plants that screen the nursery from the street. I walked on both sides just to see everything and ponder how they did it. In some places they do have some low things. I don't get there very often, maybe this was my only visit this year but I thought it looked darn good for mid-August. BTW I thought my shady garden looked better last year. The little things I planted are bigger but I didn't start the climbing nasturtiums indoors so they aren't climing up the old ladder against the side of the barn like they did last year. I think you should get rid of the milkweed. OTH my former holding bed that is now a mess of weeds like goldenrod and brown eyed susans is a delight for goldfinches. I kind of hate to cut it back because I can see them from where I sit at the computer....See MoreI hate my new TV!
Comments (5)Hopefully you read the manual on how the change all the settings to your liking. All TV's come from the factory set for viewing at the store. Do you have a HD or BlueRay DVD player? What kind of DVD player you have? The settings on the DVD player also need to be changed to match the TV. You can get the best signal from a standard DVD player via a set of Component Video cables. However, if you have a DVD player that has a video "up convert via an HDMI port, then the signal will be much better than one from "component cables." If you do have a DVD player with upconvertion via HDMI, then connect it to the TV with a HDMI cable, and play a DVD movie to see how it looks. If the movie shows better than the digital channels from the box, then the problem may not be the TV. HDMI cables are expensive, but if you shop around you may be able to find some of the six-footers for around $30.00. Maybe you can rent a DVD player with signal upconverter locally, along the cable you will need. Adjust the DVD player so the it matches the TV's capabilities. The signal will provably be 1080p or so....See MoreHATE my new backsplash!!!
Comments (85)I don't have time to read through all the responses. Did anyone like it? I'd take it down pronto before the backsplash police come to arrest you. Your cabinets and granite are gorgeous, and I usually don't like busier granites. I really love the curved island. Take your time deciding on a new backsplash. I'm building a house too and I understand why you don't want to cause any delay. If I were you I'd remove it myself (it's not hard to do) and ask the contractor to repair the drywall and paint over it. Then you can wait a good while before having to make another decision. If you're like me you have enough to do right now with the last minute decisions and moving. Good luck!!!...See MoreI Hate My New Marble-Like Countertops
Comments (39)I am going through the same thing with my bathroom. The quartz is horrible. It looks beige against my white, brand new cabinets. It also has horrible black specs on it that look like bugs. I spent so much money on it and I am so disappointed in it. Like you, it was supposed to be white with gray veining. I saw the entire slab. I even took a photo of it and got a sample to take home. I can’t seem to get a straight answer from anyone and it’s incredibly disappointing to look at in my otherwise gorgeously renovated master bathroom. In terms of lighting, there is mostly natural light in here so a lighting suggestion is not going to be a viable solution....See Moreamykath
