Your kitchen sounds great! My kitchen chairs from Mexico are dark,distressed blue with rush seats (more coarsely woven than those in your pic). My kids were very young when I got them and the rush seats took some abuse. I would vacuum them to get the bits out of the rush. Now, about 12 years later, I still love the chairs, but the rush needs to be replaced on two of them (out of 6,not bad!). I do plan on repairing them as they are very comfortable, and I love the look. You could use pretty chair pads to help keep the rush clean. The chairs in the pic seem like they would look great, but so would metal!

Check out Artistica. They have a nice selection of metal and wood bar stools. My kitchen is more tuscan/old world, but I also have an alder island and all alder woodwork. My kitchen floors are hardwood, but I love the terra cotta tiles, I have a saltillo tile in my pantry and mud room.

Mine are being delivered on Sunday. We ordered 3 barstools and 6 table chairs. We did sit in one before we ordered and they were very comfortable, but that is all relative.. sometimes what I think is comfy, my husband hates and vice-a-virsa. Will re-confirm on Sunday.

We found these chairs at a local bar-stool place, but ordered from Elite Interiors in SC. Their price was 100+ less per chair..

With our kitchen reno, we had medium dark cherry cabs put in with Silestone counters is Dark Canyon ( a brown, black & cream fleck). I found these rubberwood stools in a dark cherry stain with black leather upholstery for our eating area online. They're made by Berkline and the style is York. They're very comfortable and extremely well made, even having a nice metal strip around the top of the footrest, so that shoes don't scrape of the finish. They are quite heavy, though.
