99% Done Kitchen

My kitchen is small and not nearly as elegant as all of yours. I discovered this forum after nearly all of our choices were made, otherwise I would have opted for drawers instead of pull-out trays. But we do love our new kitchen.

Cabinets: Tedd Wood custom cabinets Dover White with a light pewter glaze.

Counter top: Zodiaq Borealis Blue.

Refrigerator, Range and Microwave: GE Profile. I absolutely love this range.

Dishwasher: Kenmore Elite.

Floors: Mirage prefinished solid hardwood, red oak with Colorado stain.

Backsplash: Gallia Beige porcelain from Italy with travertine durand. This looks so much better in person than in the photos.It was the most difficult choice we had to make.

Kitchen table: Saloom (Harvest Maple top, distressed parchment maple bottom; chairs we already had.

Sink: Artisan-it was free with the countertop.

Faucet and side spray: Kohler Forte.

Sorry to disagree, Blue, but that's quite elegant! You've made great choices.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't need a bigger kitchen. If a smaller one can look like that, why would you WANT anything bigger?

I love your kitchen! What armstrong door style is that? Did you paint them yourself? If so, what finish did you order? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but we were thinking of doing the cream colored armstrong cabinets at one point, but decided against it because I wasn't sure about the color- I didn't think of painting them!

Hi all! Sorry for the hiatus - we've been doing window treatments, hanging art, and COOKING! so I haven't been checking the blog lately! paso - the spice drawers are 8 1/2" wide and 20" deep. They have three adjustable shelves. Filling the spice bottles wasn't too bad. Mostly it was just pouring from one jar to another. At first I just had the jars sitting on the shelves and noticed that they slid back a forth a bit. I just put in some cushy shelf lining and now they stay put perfectly! minnie - we love our American Range! The ovens heat very evenly, no hot spots or problems. We have a griddle on ours and have found that it tends to run on the cool side. So we set the temp dial up higher than what the documentation recommends and it works great. Overall it's pretty easy to keep clean (we have the black front with stainless top). The burners kick butt and heat very rapidly! And, even though it's slightly OT, I love my potfiller!! Chris

Wow that looks fabulous! I'll show your photo to DH, maybe it will motivate him. So you didn't put up the board and then cover the seam with the trim. You put up the trim (bullnose) first? Circus your kitchen is just gorgeous!! I love the tile colors with the rich cherry color. And your stove knobs match the tile! Love the way you hid what sometimes can be an eye sore . . . namely the vent hood! You made it into a work of art

Hello Marie Thanks for the compliments. I luv my kitchen. :) There are 8 cams in main kitchen area. As you can see in the first pic above, they are centered over the island and the walkway areas, so the spacing was dictated by those dimensions in the kitchen. I think they are 6" - but truthfully, I just told the electrician how many cams I wanted and they did the rest. The only choice he asked me about was the baffles and I chose white to make them blend in better with the white ceiling. They supplied them so I don't know the manufacturer. I have absolutely no glare - just lots of glorious light when I want it. Most of the time I just use the ones over the island, but I can really light things up if I want to! I suppose I am not really answering your spacing questions very well, am I? :) I would advise that it would be best to have more lighting than you think you may need ... you can always turn lights off or not use them ... but if you don't have enough, it's miserable. Been there, done that. :) I love my potfiller and use it constantly - even more so than I thought I would. It is a worthwhile luxury for me and I am sooooo glad I have it. It is a Kohler. HTH, MaryT

It looks great! I think your backsplash is perfect..great choice! It's funny, every time I look at a photo I look at it for different things depending on what stage of the process I'm in. We just (yesterday) put in our backsplasyh and I now may want to switch my cream colored switches and outlets to gray. I noticed that you have gray switches/outlets, is that true? I can't seem to find them..where did you get yours..thanks!

Actually the outlets are ivory or cream color. The close-up shows the outlet and plate before we painted them. My husband painted a sample outlet cover and it really looked quite good so we painted them all. But I see in one of the pictures what you mean about looking like gray switches and outlets. Maybe it's just the lighting or the computer monitor or the way the ivory looks near the painted cover. Thank you all so much for your kind words.

Ahh, oooh... another beautiful kitchen - I love it. And I agree, it IS elegant, very polished-looking. The backsplash is perfect. I can't imagine it looking better in person, because it looks so good in the pics.
