Tile recommendations where bullnose matches field?

I've been having trouble finding a white crackle tile where the bullnose and field tile actually match in color. They are ordered in the same color, but end up not being the same shade of white. Has anyone successfully ordered bullnose and field tile that actually matched? If so, please let me know which company you used. Also, another helpful GWer had suggested made-to-order tiles, where the entire order is glazed at the same time. Can anyone recommend other made-to-order companies? Thanks so much!

Have you tried Subway Ceramics?
They have a very nice crackle finish tile.
I don't know if the crackle comes with a matching bullnose,
but the regular glaze 3 inch by 6" does.
For 5 dollars they will send you samples.

The tiles themselves are not cheap
(close to 20 dollars a square foot);
but many people swear by them for the authentic
subway tile look from the 1920s.
(I'm not sure that is the look you are going for.)

Another idea: we loved the Minton Hollins/ Johnson subway tiles we used in our bathroom reno.
They came with a number of matching trim piece options,
including a little cove trim piece that could be used to turn any tile into a bullnose.
The American Olean tiles we used in the kids' bathroom also came with a matching bullnose piece.
In neither case did we look at crackle tiles --
so perhaps Johnson and American Olean will not have what you need.

Krazed, We didn't go with crackle but used Daltile Rittenhouse Square 3x6 black & white subways in our recent kitchen reno.
They make bullnose pieces on both the 6" and 3" sides of the tile and also corner bullnose pieces.
The color match was spot on.

The tile store person says I can just cut the tile to fit the bottom row and it should be fine. Is this okay? That's fine. If they were any smaller, I'd say it's a problem, but you should be fine with that. You'll find that it's a good thing that you're cutting in to the floor. You're going to find that 4" piece may vary +/- a 1/2" or maybe even more from high point to low point in the bathroom. I just did a wainscot today where there was 1 1/4" from high to low..... and this was new construction in a very exclusive area (not too far from Walkers Point, and Bush Sr.).

I think it partially depends on whether you want the backsplash to look "framed". That's essentially what the porcelain tile will do because it is visually different from the glass tile. Bullnose tends to be more expensive than field tiles, and you will (almost definitely) have some scraps left over from doing the shower. I would consider cutting some of those scraps into the strip shape (as you would the bullnose) and taping it up as a layout to see if you like that framed look. If you do, then go ahead and cut the bullnose and tape that up. This would hopefully save you some money if it turns out you do not like the look of the frame around the glass tile. My personal preference would be to not do the bullnose around the glass tile. To me the mosaic is very pretty and has a lovely rounded edge and I would not want anything to take away the focus from the glass tiles. However, this is just my opinion, so feel free to ignore it.

We used bullnose. I really wanted to do custom pencil liner but when we got the quote from our tile place, it blew the budget completely. I thought I would hate it because it didn't match my inspiration backsplash, but honestly it looks complete and I rarely think about it these days. I think either works fine; just depends on your budget and your options.

You would have the Corian custom made by a fabricator. If you want to stick to tile and can't find the 12s, use the 6s and learn to love the extra grout lines.

Francoise47 - Thanks so much for the info. Subway Ceramics said they make the crackle field and trim tiles to order. I ordered a sample, it should be here soon. Minton Hollins does have a nice white crackle tile and it was actually a contender when I was first choosing a backsplash. I contacted them about whether trim and field tiles can be ordered from the same lot. We ordered American Olean for our master bathroom and did not have this problem, although we did not use crackle tiles.

Willtv - Thank you so much for the suggestion. If I give up on the crackle tiles, I'll be sure to look into them.
