I have Barker slab doors in hard white maple veneer and they are beautiful. I've sanded the doors but not finished them. Here's the thing. I expected there would be no seams in my doors, at least in part because the doors can only be 23" wide (unless you special order), and veneers come in wider widths. For two of the doors that was correct. For the other two, there were veneer seams that ran the length of the doors.

My guess is that unless you have book matched seams (Barker doesn't offer this), you will end up with some of your doors having seams that are visible to you. Barker's seams are probably consistent with industry standards, and may be hard to detect when the doors are finished, but I see them in maple, and you will probably notice them even more in a door veneered with a stronger grain, like quarter sawn oak. Maybe you should ask them about it before you order.

Thanks! We're trying to pick between the maple and quarter sawn white oak. So this is very helpful. The grain on the drawer fronts is also vertical right? So I guess the seams show there as well.

I didn't buy drawer fronts, but I imagine this could happen there too.
