Wolf Burner Grate Problem, Interesting Aftermath

maydl

Each of the six cast-iron burner grates on my Wolf range top has one tiny rubber foot (whose job I cannot fathom because the foot doesn't even sit on the drip pans--but that's not part of this story).

Since we started using the range top in August, half of the tiny rubber feet have melted away. So I called Wolf yesterday to see what they could do about it.

Now, I expected them to offer replacement rubber feet or, better still, a different kind of foot made of a non-melting material. Here's what they said:

"We know there's been a problem with the rubber feet melting, so our engineers designed new burner grates that don't need a rubber foot. We're going to send you a set of the newly designed grates."

Wow! On the one hand, I'm blown away by Wolf's customer service. But on the other hand ... isn't that some kind of overkill? Wouldn't little silicone feet have done the job?
