Boy that is one TOP OF THE LINE kitchen! It is spectacular. I love that there are so many different surfaces in your space - white cabinets, stained cabinets, brick, 2 granite surfaces as well as wood counters, stainless, 2 different types of glass for the cabinets, different styles of hardware, tile flooring, stained doors - but they all work so well together. You should feel very proud - your kitchen is beautiful.

Stunning! Where do I even begin? I love the ceilings, the footprint on the Saltillo tile, the light fixture--where did you get it? The cabs, glass, wood flooring, granite, just everything. Absolutely stunning! Oh, the stove! What oven is that? Gorgeous! Want details please!

FYI on the outlet cover for your island. Check out Arnev.com. You can specify the not only the wood type, edges, and graining (flame vs. linnear for ex.), but you also specify the orientation of the grain--horiz. or vert. Ask for Lee; he's quite helpful!

My only regret about my kitchen is the timing. Nothing like sinking a ton of dough into a renovation just before the entire global economy crashes. Our "joke" (we hope) is that the bank will enjoy the kitchen very much after they foreclose on the house. The last few decisions have been made by asking "what would the bank like?"

Just want to add my congrats to those above. I read all the previous posts before clicking to view your pictures. I tend to be a "less is more" person, so as many great reviews as there were, when I read about how many elements you had incorporated in your plan I thought it might not be quite my taste.

So wrong - Your kitchen is one of my favorites! Nicer than many I've seen in magazines...and that breafast room is so inviting - Love it!

Wow Wow Wow, Jeannie! Your kitchen / breakfast nook / butler's pantry are so incredibly thorough and detailed, that it reminds me of a fantasy kitchen in a Wm Oh's or Woodmode catalogue. Seriously, you and your KD should be very, very proud of yourselves. (I'm in awe!)

Oh, Gwent, definitely not DIY and we had a lot of design help.

The basic idea for white perimeter cabs and natural cherry island, along with the Cornufe, which was supposed to be the focal point, was ours. And we knew we wanted a terra cotta floor. We got the idea for the ceiling from a kitchen showroom that we visited, but my contractor built us a much nicer one than what we had seen.

Layout was a painful process, that was part us, part a KD from a cabinet company that bailed on us, and part our final KD.

We picked all the light fixtures, faucets and appliances on our own. It was our idea to do the glass-front bookcases, and the double-sided glass cabinets, but he designed them.

Big picture was us. I give my KD credit for a lot of the details, and the execution, slow as it might have been sometimes. All that woodwork was really his design, to fit with the rest of the house. He convinced us to do the two granites, I would never have done that. He picked the backsplash. I was impressed that he came up with it so quickly and easily, until he took us to see his house. It is the backsplash he had in his kitchen, except he used only one color of insert tile instead of a variety of colors. The border around the floor on the island was also totally him. The butler's pantry floor was him. He gave me input on the knobs and handles, although we picked them. It was my idea to use the walnut for the bookcases, his to use it for the peninsula. We picked the vintage poster and stools and the pantry door.

All in all, it was a collaborative effort.

Having paid close attention to your progress and the great advice you have always shared with others, I knew all along that I was going to adore your kitchen! Well, now that it's here, I'm actually surprised by just how wowed I am. Indeed, I'm reduced to a less is more response. Thus, words and phrases like "Wow!" "Aha!" "Uh Huh!" "Woo Hoo!" "Omigod" "Dang" and "You Betcha" are the kind that come to mind. Congratulations, Jeannie on a great job. This one makes my "Best of GW Kitchens" list for sure!
