Samsung have a rep for building and selling a lot of good stuff at rock bottom prices but getting pretty snarly when some nobody gets stuck with one of their lemons. It is an attitude that seems to be gaining ground among many foreign appliance makers these days and some that are native to North America as well. Given the odds, your best bet is getting the Costco Samsung you like with the total of 5 years Costco/SquareDeal warranty coverage (final three for an extra $100). Good viewing!

I know you didn't ask for layout help other than the peninsula vs island, but... Is that your refrigerator against the wall? If so, to be able to open the doors and, possibly, interior drawers fully, you will need a few inches b/w the refrigerator and wall --or-- reduce the wall's depth so it's no deeper than the refrigerator's carcass/box. Unless the refrigerator is a built-in refrigerator, the doors must extend past all obstructions (walls, cabinets, counters, etc.). If that's a pantry, then I think your best option would be to reduce the depth of the pantry so the wall is no deeper than the refrigerator box (if it's a standard-depth, then 30" or so; if it's a counter-depth, then 24" or so - check the specs of the refrigerator) If you post a measured layout, you might get even more options from folks here - many think "outside the box" to come up with creative designs. If you would like help or just more options to choose from, then post a layout with the widths of all walls/windows/doors/doorways and the distances b/w the walls/windows/doors/doorways. Indicate where each doorway leads and the swing of the doors. Finally, a full-floor sketch would be very helpful as well. My concern is aisle widths. The width between the island and the right hand side is 3'1" (37"). If this doesn't take into account counter you will be down to perhaps 34" aisle width when subtracting potential counter overhang from both sides. I'm assuming you have kids given the homework room and I can envision (may not happen - you know your routines better than me that's for sure) a traffic spot that may require traffic lights and that is the area that comes out of the homework room (and whatever other rooms are down the hall) and into the kitchen or through to the dining room, coming down the stairs and into the kitchen and also standing at the beverage center. The other area of concern is the seating at the top of the table. The aisle width is 4'5" but if someone is trying to sit down and then sitting down they need about 2-3' to do that. It will be tough to walk behind them and you won't beable to open the DW. There's just no breathing room or air in this space. The room can't take a deep breath. But not my space.

I like all the suggestions offered above better than either plan. You mention being able to visit as you prep on the peninsula, but I noticed that the seats will be in the traffic path from the porch. How often will you use the wood cooker? If not as often as the cooktop, I'd prefer llucy's idea of putting the fridge where the wall ovens are drawn in the first plan. That puts the fridge closer to the dining area, prep and cooking areas. I'd also use only one island if the fridge is moved, and I think I'd put the ovens where the wood stove is drawn, and build in a nook and wood storage for the range (which has soooo much charm, btw.) Re: Stages sink against the wall--there was a thread in the last year about that situation, and IIRC the owner was very disappointed and didn't like the cabinets above or beside it. I think this is the thread--you might want to read through it. Here's a quick rearrangement, just to illustrate a couple of the ideas suggested above. I know you don't want to change things up much, but something to consider. The clean-up sink would be the water source for prep for the wood stove. Can wood for the stove be stored near the garden entrance? I didn't read the previous planning thread, but if there's no reason the prep sink can't be on the island, you could have more space around the cooktop. There's a seat at each of the island, for someone who is hanging out while you work, and plenty of room for helpers to cook together. Whatever you ultimately decide, it looks as if you're going to have an amazing kitchen. I hope you'll come back and post a reveal thread, because I am looking forward to seeing the AGA in action!
