Finally I have counter tops

Haven't posted in a while with updates. It seems like the workers are dragging there feet. Going into the 5th week. They worked a half a day all last week. My kitchen won't be finished by Thanksgiving. But I did get my counter tops installed today.

Hubby played a mean trick on me. I was at work when he called and asked me what color my counter tops are suppose to be. I explained as best I could what color they are. He then says, "They're not white? Cause they brought white." I yelled, "what? You are kidding me,right?" Having a panic attack, I start crying my eyes out at work and told him to tell them "Just put them in! I'm so tired of this" He said "calm down and come tell them if they need to get the right ones" When I got home, the counter tops are my Cambria Canterbury! The wall color is Barley Harvest.

There is one corner I'm not happy with at all... Hubby says he's not going to have them take it out and put a new piece in. I don't know what to do.

Your kitchen is beautiful. It would take me a while to forgive my DH for that tho LOL!

Can I ask what color is the paint? Is it sort of a pumkin? It looks very pretty on my monitor but sometimes doesn't read true. I'm looking for something similar to that for my dining room.

With the built-in sink? we found a color that'd work great with our color scheme, supposed to be easy to install yourself. we want a built-in sink as they seem to be easier to clean... for about 48X25" (there about) it is somewhere between $350-$400 i think (it's been a while since we asked) depending on what features you want... labor costs about that much too i think. anyone has any experience with it?

Thanks flwrs! And Cj - Knowing you both had success with using the roaster is reassuring. I use a brown sugar and bourbon glaze and I donÃ¯Â¿Â½t think anyone will notice the ham isnÃ¯Â¿Â½t very brown. My biggest worry is that the ham is only 8 pounds and might get too dry. I promise to use my electronic thermometer. Fori, I donÃ¯Â¿Â½t think I could talk my DH into grilling. Our current forecast is: "Snow beginning around midnight tonight and ending around noon (CST) Friday with 2-4" in most places. Isolated higher amounts are possible near the 5-6" range." He might grill for us if we only get 2 more inches Ã¯Â¿Â½ more than that and you could probably hear him laugh all the way to your house. Beuhl, I am intrigued by the thought of using the slow cooker. I have an older one that has a metal container that sits on a griddle style base. I know the ham would fit nicely in there. I wonder if the glaze would do better in the roaster or the slow cooker. The instruction booklet has been missing for years. As I remember it was only 3 or 4 thin pages with very little real info. Cindy, may I have your apricot, mustard and honey glaze recipe. I promise to wrap that ham in foil before baking. It sounds delicious! I think my brown sugar and bourbon would stick tight to the foil and everyone would be tearing off bits of foil so they could lick the glaze off. I see you are due for a high of 52 degrees tomorrow. I do miss South Carolina winters!! Here in my part of Iowa we are promised a high of 20 tomorrow, which really isnÃ¯Â¿Â½t too bad. (My southern bones canÃ¯Â¿Â½t believe IÃ¯Â¿Â½m saying that.) Northcarolina, I use my roaster to cook 15 to 18 pounds of pork (I also use boston butt) for BBQ all the time. The next time IÃ¯Â¿Â½m making a smaller amount I will try the slow cooker. Hmmm Ã¯Â¿Â½ New YearÃ¯Â¿Â½s BBQ. I think I will try your sage and sugar combination with my spices. I have been wanting something with sage lately. I love the aroma of sage cooking. Jakabedy, I like cooking a big turkey in the roaster because it does seem cook up more moist than in the oven. But my old Panasonic convection microwave cooked a very moist turkey in half the time. have finished the 4th remodel (wow 2 yrs since earlier post on this thread!). Used all white (no patterns speckles or veining) in MasterBath, Butlers Pantry Wet Bar, and as BACKSPLASH in Kitchen whose counters are Stainless Steel. (the rest of kitchen is all white cabinetry with brushed metal pulls). No qu that the white is stunning, crisp, pleasant. MasterBath is fine. Butlers Pantry: the white counter is unforgiving and shows everything. So on a second bathroom we chose white with a little gray veining and that has been excellent / easier. Kitchen all white backsplash with white cabs above below has been great and VERY easy clean (we cook a lot and use spices that stain too). But the all white in kitchen would have been intolerable as a counter for us. Stainless steel is not for everyone but 3 kitchen renos later, (2 remain actively in use) we love its cleanliness and the patina and very, very low maintenance. It looks surprisingly good with Cesarstone / Quartzite type stone products

I have Cambria Torquay and use Clorox wipes on them all the time. I use them to wipe down my counters, then follow it up with Method granite polish from Target (LOVE that stuff!) There is absolutely no streaking, haze, residue, discoloration, etc. I frequently put hot items straight onto the countertop, but try to use a trivet or pot holder most of the time. I'm not super worried about it, but I figure it doesn't hurt to use a little extra caution. I was given the option of having the sink cut-out finished into a cutting board, so I used that for a long time as a tester of sorts. It has held up to all stains and temperatures I've subjected it to. I was advised by the installer to use a it of straight acetone for any stains that couldn't be removed with regular cleaner or by scraping with a razor blade. That was four years ago, and I have yet to find anything that didn't wipe right off. And that's saying something, because I have young children. I absolutely love my quartz counters and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Can you take some different pictures because.....

YOUR KITCHEN IS DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!

I can't find the area that is considered not pretty.
But, I trust that you do not like it. I just want to see
what it is. And maybe after a day or too you will see
it really is pretty. I know for me, my concept is
always different than reality. And it takes me a little
while to get over my fantasy and accept what is in front
of me. Give your self a little time to come to terms
with what you like or don't like.

Hoping that it all becomes the dream you want it to be.

Your countertops look perfect with you new cabinets. Very warm and inviting. What exactly is the problem with the corner. In the photo it looks like the one counte is a bit lighter than the counter running the other direction but I assumed that was the because of the camera or lighting. If it is the same color as the other counter then whatever you see wrong with it is not real obvious in the photo.

They look beautiful! Just gorgeous! Love the warm rich look in your kitchen. Amazing how the paint color makes the counter look even richer. Looking forward to seeing the finished results.

I agree with the others that I'm not seeing the problem with the corner. It looks good to me.

looks great to me. I could only dream of granite counter tops. I just got bronze eclipse Wilson Art HD and they look nice in my kitchen. granite would not fit in with the homes and prices in my area, it would be an over improvement.

Oooh that looks fabulous. And I love the stain on your cabinets as well, your kitchen is going to be amazing, What is wrong with the corner? I don't see it on my screen,

The problem is not exactly in the corner. There is a seam in the L. One side of the seam is lighter than the other. I noticed it the minute I walked in there. It came from 2 different slabs of Quartz.
The Quartz is Cambria Canterbury. It was the first thing I picked out for the kitchen.

The paint color is BM Barley Harvest. It is funny how it changes color a bit with the light and different times of the day. I love it. How I picked my paint color... picture this... 4 graphic designers standing around a computer monitor, holding up a sample of the counter top and cabinets, picking colors. When we found this one, all of us said "that's it!" at the same time. lol

They put my Faucet in today. So I have got running water in there now!
