I'm not sure I get the aqua blue for tile with that granite. You might be able to add that color for accents though. I would go with a light gray color for the backsplash. I'm not sure of your budget, or how much you need, but one tile that I love is by Mandala--French Grey. This gray might look really classy and elegant. The tiles have different levels of color, which would help with your wall color choice. We were going to go with their Stingray color--has a bit more taupe, but then we decided to do just white 2x8 subways, and save some money and also because we ended up painting with that color instead! Also, there are frosted glass tiles out there, maybe a gray in that? That might pick up on the slate floor too. Since I'm not sure of the colors in the rest of your house, it's hard to pick a paint color too. But if the backsplash were a gray, then maybe a darker gray for the room? It would really accent the white cabinets and the stainless. Of course if you are more into the goldent tones, you could something in that picks up the caramel color in that granite, which is gorgeous. You need to take my advice with a grain of salt though. I still have 2x8 subway tiles drawn on paper and taped to my backsplash. Fire is the only enemy of this particluar treatment! Here is a link that might be useful: Here's the mandala tile

Both of my bathrooms are green. The master has tan granite-looking countertops and the walls are painted BM Aura in Metropolitan. Very spa-like. My daughter's bathroom is painted BM Quiet Moments. That color is very nice, as well.

I think you've got a great place to start, very large and open. There's not much room for a microwave over the stovetop though? Anyway, can you paint the walls more of a greige that is so popular, somewhere between the gray you wanted, but still pickup the beige tones in the granite. Breezy's cabinets are BM Simply white, which looks really nice. All the best on your reno!

I'd recommend staying away from the blue. We tried some blues with our stone. In the kitchen we had a light blue on the small wall area around the sink window and it was much better when we repainted to white. The stone has so many blues. Also the color of blue from the stone changes in a different way with light than the paint color does. That makes it really difficult to find a blue that goes with and enhances the stone. The blue paint just seemed to by trying to hard to match and not succeeding. On the other hand, the Fragrant Cloves warm reddish brown works well with the blues and references the rust tones in the stone. That is similar to the effect that we get with the natural cherry cabinets around our stone.
