Low Offer, Need Advice on Counter
Comments (10)If you don't like the offer then say no. You have to have a threshold of how low you are will to go anytime you sell something. If you are getting the traffic, you will most likely get more offers. The real question is the incremental holding costs from one offer to the next. One thing you can do is demand a quick closing if you accept the low price. We did that on the house we just sold. The buyer got a great deal and we got a 3 week close. To me $5k delta is probably two mortgage payments. So if you get a quick close, maybe you make back on mortgage payment so the real delta is only $2500. I would not get caught up in what other homes are selling for. You priced your home to beat your competition out in getting a buyer. Now you need to lock down the buyer....See Moreadvice please! kitchen sink on island or side counter??
Comments (4)It doesn't look like you're getting a lot of responses, but if you have a large island, then I'd suggest putting in a prep sink on the island and a main sink on the counter. Not having pictures of your layout, I can't be sure this would work, but when we redid our kitchen that was one of things we put in, and it's one of the things I love best about our new kitchen. It allows you to use the island as a food prep workspace with an easy place to wash your hands or rinse food. Any trash you can just send down the disposer. It's also a convenient place for kids [and grown ups!] to wash their hands. Finally, in our kitchen the prep sink is located across from the cooktop, so we can use it as a pot filler and avoid the wall mounted one....See MoreHelp! Counter Top Edge Advice Request
Comments (17)Does anyone know the answer to this - I have a 2 1/2" mitered flat edge and shaker overlay doors. When the doors were installed I noticed that I only have a 1/8" overlay over the door and drawer fronts. The counter does not protect the doors at all. Now the fabricator tells me that with a mitered edge they can only make a 1" overlay and not the 1 1/2 overlay that is standard with a flat eased edge. They said that when using a mitered edge only an inset door and drawer will do so that you can get enough overhang. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Any suggestions in how to correct this problem? How to add on to a granite edge. I can't rip out the countertop. Could possibly plane down the doors and drawers or make new inset doors and drawers but this is problematic to do....See MoreKitchen cabinet color and counter top help please!
Comments (12)Thanks - and I was planning the white perimeter uppers and lowers with a darker quartz counter top ( i like the darker charcoal -matte finish- on top of the white cabinets)and the light gray island cabinet with marbled quartz top. I do love a dark gray cabinet but I have a small kitchen and worried it may be too dark. We are a family of 5 with three messy kids - although they are getting older and less messy lol. Ill have to look at the stained gray - i just dont like to see the grain of wood in cabinets. This island below has the pendants I will do (I'll do 2 smaller Hicks pendants). I like the look of this island and top and the white cabinets with dark quartz in lower pic what do you think?...See Moremarcolo
