Help with bathroom needed... X-post

Cross posting from bathrooms:

I"m starting to plan the redo for our postage stamp sized master bath. It's the last of the gut/remodel jobs in our house. I'm going to live with the size and since it's so small, it doesn't pay to move anything cause it won't net me any benefit. The advice I need is all about finishes... or more specifically tile. I have everything else already. I will refinish/paint this old dry sink that I deconstructed for our vanity:

I will paint it the color of my bedroom set:

Here is my light:

So... it's obvious I'm running along a Cape Cod/Nantucket kind of thing...but I don't want it "themey". I decided to do beadboard on the lower half or so of the wall and a blueish/green above. The whole tranquil vibe. I'm thinking of doing glass running up above the sink and in the shower. Some kind of aqua colors. I can't decide on flooring. I know that marble pinwheel kind of thing would go great... it just seems so "expected". I don't know that I want that. I also thought I'd do only the large wall in the shower (32"x5 approx) the brighter glass. Along these lines:

I'm a little concerned about the wear of all glass in the shower. I thought about marble ming green combo, but don't want anything I have to seal/reseal. I'm all about low maintance but don't want to be bland. So... HELP ME?! Any ideas I haven't already spent hours cyber searching on?

I love love love the first glass tiles shown. The second glass tiles, not so much...

I think if you are going with "beachy" or nautical tones, a sand type color floor would be ideal. I could also see floor tiles that look like a washed out driftwood color.

Since it isn't a large room, and you will have a lot of interest going on with the pretty glass tile on the walls...how about a simple white basket weave ceramic? I really love this...and it might look a little different than the pinwheel. Plus, I think it is rather budget friendly, so you would have more money for the glass tile! :)

Hey I have that same bathroom, which I am in the beginning stages of remodeling. Since tub/showers seem to be hated, I am sure I am going to be in the minority. After much thought, we are keeping the tub/shower. Here is our line of thinking. We have a six year old. She takes a bath and this is her bathroom. It was a pain to bathe her in the big tub in the master. Hurts the back to reach in that far down. Since she is young she wonÂt have any issue stepping over the tub to use it as a shower when she is older. I know the general rule is that a house has to a have a tub somewhere, but I really think, if you have a house that will be occupied by young children that a tub is necessary in their bathroom. As a mother I wouldnÂt buy one with just a shower in the kids bathroom and a tub in the master. JMO. As for a step in being ideal for visiting seniors, this is true, but since they are just visiting, we prefer the house to work for the people who are here the majority of the time. I would do the closet doors the same as the BR fixtures. It sounds like you have two doors leading to the MB, one to the changing area, then another to the bathroom itself....correct? I think you could go either way with the second door......ORB or nickel, but I'd probably do nickel.

The only way I'd do a white floor is with gray grout but it could work if I could find a white to match the paint or if I color match the beadboard paint color to the tile. What if I painted the vanity a very very soft gray like BM Gray Wisp? What would you put on the shower floor? I had always thought I'd use some kind of river stone but it might be too much in such a small space. I don't think I want to do the tile on all the shower walls. I saw one shower online where they had the one feature wall all glass and then they had a simple tile in the rest of the shower with the glass also running up the middle of the short wall (floor to ceiling) where the shower head and handles were. They have that first tile in smaller mosaics. How about if I did the longer ones on the feature wall and something like 1x1's or similar in a strip going up the shower head wall and inside any niches we build? Could I use a smaller mosaic glass on the shower floor? I kinda like the idea of a seamless look.
