Mixing matte bronze light fixture w/satin nickel cabinet hardware

I'm not a mixy matchy person at all. But does anyone see a style issue in using a pendant lamp that has a matte bronze fixture-top and rod (white milkglass shade) with cabinetry that has satin nickel pulls? Further, would the existence of satin nickel pulls make you shy away from a chrome faucet or not at all? Cabinets are old and white, walls nearly so, floors pretty and dark wood, countertops the palest lemon matte tile so they blend in really well with the white.

The satin nickel pulls are pretty small and discreet, and the lamp I had in mind is this, to keep it nonmodern looking:

My rationale is that the matte bronze is going to look antiquey and inobtrusive and is about the same color as the wood floor. I don't think that fixture and shade would have the same charm if I went satin nickel with the finish.

(Kitchenette table is off-white with off-white French country chairs.)

I think it would look fine. I'm not a particularly matchy person either. I'm pretty sure I'm going to mix finishes in my reno, too. And, I should add, I love the schoolhouse fixture.

That is actually similar to what I'm planning: bronze lighting fixtures and brushed satin cab hardware. I've seen quite a few similar kitchens w/ this arrangement. If you haven't already, you can view tons of kitchens of other Garden Web Kitchen forum members at the Finished Kitchen Blog.

I have been thinking through the same issue as out house hardware is all old brass, but the appliances are stainless. I think I am keeping the lighting fixtures brass--at least that's what I'm thinking today. But I'm planning to use satin nickel for the cabinet hardware, in large part because it doesn't contrast as much with the white cabinets. I have a lot of other things going on visually for a small kitchen and after looking at houzz pictures of white cabinets with brass pulls, I think they look a little busy for my purposes. So depending on whether you like the contrast or not, maybe consider satin nickel on the white and orb on the black?

Yes, no one can look at both and take the time to be picky about it lol. You will be the ones who notice things more than anyone. And after the dust settles most of the time you wont even think about it anymore. Side note I dont think you need contrast on your cabinet pulls, a brushed brass would be really pretty with bronze..just a thought.

Most of the doorknobs in our home are brushed nickel, except for the front door, we did dark bronze because we have dark exterior shutters. In our new kitchen remodel we took down a wall between the dining room and kitchen. Our dining room has a dark brown table with black chairs and black iron curtain rods with white curtains. Our light fixture in the dining room is a black fixture with an ivory linen lampshade. All of the handles in our new kitchen are brushed nickel. We are also doing some live edge shelves over my kitchen desk with black iron supports. I think two metals together is totally fine and actually adds some depth and interest.

@Kristin S, not sure but I can certainly ask. I really need a middle ground between the Polished Brass and Satin Nickel. The Polished Brass seems too gold for me and the satinnickel slightly too muted. Hard to tell but is the Top Bronze kind of in between? Going to go online and see the difference. At the end of the day, the pulls are so subtle so maybe I should stop belabouring on this point and I guess I could always just change them out after the fact (although my husband would kill me!!) ... LOL. Thanks!!
