What color cabinet stain w/Kashmir Gold granite?
Comments (3)I haven't used it but I can see why you would fall in love with it! Most of the images on Google are with white or a light stain. If I were to use it, I would go dark-- either a deep cherry (especially if it has lots of reddish muddles) or dark brown. If I had to go light, I would go white. The medium stained woods just look too..... blendy. The granite looks a little lost if that makes sense. between the cabinets and the countertop, nothing really pops out at you....See MoreWhite cabinets - Santa Cecelia (light) or Kashmir White
Comments (2)Kashmir White is one of my very favorites, so I'm biased. You say you are interested in gray and most I've seen has plenty of gray, and often a little golden tan and maybe some creaminess for warmth. In addition, the burgundy colored inclusions give you the opportunity to add warmth to your room by picking up that color in backsplash or accessories. To me, Santa Cecilia is too 'everywhere' (truly no offense intended to those who have and love it), but I prefer something a little less often seen....See MoreStarting to love granite: Kashmir white
Comments (12)I'm sure it was an unsealed sample, straight from the slab yard. I would agree that a sealed sample would hold up better, but I'm bad with upkeep, and I'm sure I wouldn't be re-sealing the counter every year, either out of a busy schedule, or just not wanting to deal with the task. So eventually it would act more like the unsealed sample. This is obviously me, maybe others would be more meticulous about the annual maintenance. I have a 1 year old running around, and I don't see myself finding that much free time that I wouldn't rather be relaxing than working to re-seal the counter even if it is just 1 weekend out of the 52 available. Maintenance aside, I think it's a great color selection. If you plan to keep up with the annual maintenance I'm sure it would be rather stain resistant....See MoreGranite: ivory brown or Kashmir white?
Comments (10)Doesn't your inspiration kitchen have Calcutta gold marble, not Carrara? I think the text talked about specifically wanting the warm gold tones in the Calcutta Gold..... to that end, I'm not sure Kashmir White is what you would want. I had it in my last kitchen (honed) and considered it seriously for this new one. It is definitely more on the cold side, although some slabs tend more towards a greeny-grey and some do have a touch more warmth if they have more of the cream swaths. Some slabs, also, have more movement, with large, milky-way-like waves through them.... so if that's important to you i would definitely go pick out your slab. As far as dirt and upkeep on the honed Kashmir White, ours was a breeze. I sealed it like once a year (way less than recommended) and because of the patterning, nothing ever showed. We set oily, stain-y things on it all the time to no ill effect. I don't know what Ivory Brown looks like, so I can't comment on that. FWIW, I was after the greyer look of Carrara, myself, in the new kitchen, and I thought I would use Kashmir White. But then I decided to use what I really wanted: Carrara! (It is actually less expensive) I'll double check but I dont think its carrara in your inspiration kitchen---...See Morelaurajane02
