Pre-holidays discounts or sales?

In the past, have there been discounts or sales on faucets, sinks, cabinet hardware, appliances, windows, etc. during the build up to the holidays? I would hate to order or buy a bunch of stuff and then see that I could have saved 20% or more by waiting a couple of weeks. I know that there are all sorts of deals on electronics, but what about kitchen fixtures?

Any crystal balls out there? Or accurate memories of the last few years?

I was looking at a Samsung range a few weeks back and the sales person told me that it it would be on sale for a huge discount in November.

Last year myself and a few others on here purchased around Thanksgiving time from OverstockDeals.com and they had a sale on Kohler plus 20% off everything and free ship. So my Kohler Whitehaven sink was about $200 less than anywhere else, and my Kohler Ladena sinks were each about $40 less than elsewhere. I remember one poster bought a ton of stuff there and saved a bundle.

We're now in the finishing stages of our remodel so I don't need much but am holding out in the hopes OverstockDeals has another great sale.

I ordered several delta Cassidy items as well! Unfortunately almost all my bathroom Cassidy items are back ordered but I've got plenty of time since our slab was just poured today. I contacted them today to confirm which items were back ordered so that I'd know what to expect in the shipment and it's a good thing I did! They were holding the rest of my order until those few items showed up at the distribution center. They'll go ahead and send what's in stock if you contact them (they offered, I didn't have to ask). My order contains 32 items and they're not being delivered to the job site so breaking it up into smaller deliveries is definitely a good thing!

As you already said, there's ALWAYS another sale. One holiday sale isn't going to give you more of a discount than another holiday sale. A lot also depends on supply and demand. If things are slow, the discounts will be greater. Also, if one appliance model isn't selling well, the discounts on that one will be greater. Or if it's about to be discontinued, you can get a better deal. Those factors influence the price more than which holiday it is. There's a DW I am interested in (for a friend), and every time I check its price on the AJMadison website, the price is changing, kinda like the stock market. Up $40 one week, down $20 the next, up $15 the next, and so on. For the really best deal, I think you do best by talking with your salesperson, or if buying online, calling them, and saying "can you do any better on X appliance?". They often will. What you don't want to get sucked into, is buying appliances too early for install, cause you think the sale is too fantastic to pass up. Most appliances have warranties that kick in upon delivery, not upon installation. If you buy an appliance, say, 4 months before you install it, you will be foregoing 4 months of warranty. And you'll have to store the appliance(s) somewhere if you aren't ready to install--and it is during storage that often things get damaged, by being jostled, pushed, dragged, having things dropped on them, etc.

There are specialty sprays on the market to clean these lucite/acrylic pieces with (I picked up some when I bought a couple of Z-shaped lucite tables in S. Florida), but obviously substances like Windex, Fantastic aren't a good idea -- they'll yellow these items, I understand. But it's so easy for even the tiniest piece of grit to scratch these items -- you might not even notice that it was something that was at the bottom of a purse or the stack of mail. I'm over worrying about my little tables, but it took a while! Just my own experience -- not saying don't buy it, you just may want to sleep on it for a while!

I just bought a C3 special Edition that's very similar to the Callima, no HEPA filter and it has a different floor brush. But it was 399 instead of 650 as a Black Friday special. The machine is normally 449, all in all a good value. I decided I wanted a second vac for the upstairs and put my other Miele on the lower level. The older one is a previous top of the line so I still have the brushes to fall back on if needed as well.

Mellyc, gosh, what a nice salesperson! I hope you will snag a great deal.

Nancyjla, I have never shopped on that website before. I will certainly keep an eye on it.

Anyone else have experiences or know if there are deals to be found in November or nearer to Black Monday? I bet there are lots of other folks who would be happy to grab a great deal.

The Tile Store has a good Black Friday sale. I ordered my tile there at 30% off that day. They said they have it every year.

Please keep in mind that for appliances purchases, the clock starts ticking on the warranty upon delivery, not installation. So if you buy something now cause it's "on sale", but you're not ready to install it for months, you will lose those months of warranty, which will cost more if you need repairs than what you saved by the sale. Not to mention needing to store the stuff until it's installed which carries risks of damage, getting wet, even theft.

Also, there is ALWAYS another sale. There's pre-Christmas sales, post-Christmas sales, new year's sales, president's day sales, spring sales, and on and on.

Yeah, there are always sales to keep an eye out for. I wouldn't get appliances until shortly prior to install for the reasons akchicago stated. Plus, I'd want to start using them soon in order to know if everything really works right during the return period as most places seem to have a 30-day return policy (although this should be checked so you know exactly what window you have for returning things).

I bought the "Lowe's version" of my Bosch dishwasher 50% off. I notice it is regularly on sale, about every 6 weeks or so. Watch the flyers because I bet you'll see the same items on sale on a cyclical basis, particularly if it's the store version of the item. My faucet, I have only seen on sale once and I bought it then. I think it was in February. It was a few months before my reno, anyway.

I ordered the vast majority of the plumbing for our new house at last years 20% off kohler from overstock deals. I also clicked through mr rebates, which was an additional 5% rebate. Seamless transaction, shipped quickly. A huge 18 wheeler pulled down our cul de sac! Kohler is usually one of the brands merchants exclude from promotional sales, so I jumped on the opportunity.

I had my quote from a local place. Their original prices were a bit lower, but they couldn't touch the 20%. Wound up saving about $3500, plus no tax. So it worked great for me.

We also saved a ton of $$ buying from Overstockdeals.com. Got all our kitchen and bathroom faucets, Kohler sinks, towel bars, etc for our new house during their fall sale last year. Big discounts, no sales tax, free shipping, plus I used Ebates and got cash back! Everything arrived quickly and with no problems whatsoever. I think my Whitehaven sink was only $536!

Lots of good ideas here. Thanks for sharing your experiences. The advice about not buying appliances well in advance is important.

I hope that demo will start within the next two or three weeks. That means it is time to pack up the kitchen. Ugh...

I bought my range and my hood online from AJ Madison in Brooklyn. they had really good prices and even offered to knock more off the prices since I was buying two things I guess. That was in about February but I don't know what is the best time of year.
Also - maybe this is totally normal but - the items were driven all the way to Austin, Texas from NYC in one truck by the same drivers the whole way. That really impressed me and made me feel more secure about handling.
