Counter to go with Fire and Ice backsplash, help!

New poster here, thanks to this forum, we found Jeffrey Court's Fire and Ice backsplash. We are leaning towards the darker slate version in the brick pattern. Cabinets will be Norcraft maple fireside (kind of a medium dark brown) and floors will be wood with not too dark a finish.

We are stumped on a counter. The black granites coordinate well, but the room might seem too dark. Other granites seem too busy so looking at quartz. Do the experts here think Cambria torquay (a Carrera lookalike) would work? I thought the grey veining could pick up the grey in the backsplash, but I am nervous because it is usually shown with white cabinets. I want something that "pops" a little. Any other ideas? Thanks!
