The backsplash is already "popping" ... if the countertop also pops, it's going to detract from the backsplash. One diva per kitchen!

The backsplash is a strong geometric with high contrast, the Cambria is a misty swirly pattern with low contrast. They don't blend very well.

Try a near-solid or very fine grained textured countertop in one of the shades from the backsplash - get a big sample of the backsplash and take it with you shopping for countertops.

Thanks for the pics. Haven't had a chance to read about me messaging yet, but pics were helpful. We do have a shop we have started the purchase with here. We were leaning towards slate, but all the pics have sold us on the quartz, with a black counter, either black galaxy granite or blackwood cambria (or maybe black arctic granite)

But....we do want to replace some glass tiles with a garnet or deeper umber like so many of you have done. What is the latest on the best source for these? My supplier seems perplexed by this idea so I am looking on my own. thanks!

We had our tile shop order 1 entire sheet as a 'sample' of the black glass tiles and of the darker amber glass tiles which gave us 36 tiles in each color. We will be painting the back of some of the peach glass tiles as well. It is totally escaping me at the moment who the mfg is. I will do a google search and see if I can figure out who they are made by.

Our granite is Black Pearl.

Found it !! The manufacturer for the replacement tiles we bought is Diamond Tech in their Vista tiles 2"x2" (although the actual size is not that big and perfectly matches the Fire & Ice glass tiles). We ordered Cocoon and Relic Brown. I wonder if the replacement tiles from Jeffrey Court are any darker of an amber than the relic brown.

There are some quartzites that are pretty monolithic in appearance. I'm not sure exactly what your back splash looks like IRL, but would one like this be an option for a counter top?

Merij, just curious, what granite did you choose? We have a small dark kitchen with Fire & Ice and choose a dark gray, almost black granite called Impala Black. It works perfectly. Our stainless steel appliances help brighten up the kitchen as does proper lighting.
