Do You Like Your Deck Mounted Soap Dispensers?
Comments (22)Enduring, I would think about two. One for lotion, one for soap. But, I forgot, is this your Master bath, or a guest one? Unfortunately, for a guest one, you may have the eternal problem of having to explain which is which, or letting each guest experiment each visit... I actually bought our kitchen sink one from HD. I had gone there intending to buy one to match our Blanco Rados faucet, and the sales guy actually talked me into purchasing the no-name $14 one hanging on a rack. We've had it for 7 years (CANNOT believe our kitchen reno is 7 years old!), only clogged once, and DH took it all apart and cleaned out the gook...took me awhile to stop reefing on that poor ol' spout that was no longer plugged! So, the point of my post is that you don't necessarily need to spend the big bucks to find a dispenser that will work well and look good. (The NN one from HD looked very much like the Blanco one that cost 10X more!) Old pic showing soap dispenser:...See MoreDo you have a soap dispenser at your prep sink?
Comments (15)I do. It supports my prep space where I handle produce and meats as well as my baking area where I handle butter, eggs, doughs, etc. If I only had produce, it might not matter so much, but with all we do there, I definitely wash my hands there -- more often than at the cleanup sink and my kitchen wouldn't work without that ability. The island space is also less conducive to having a soap bottle on the counter, so I think it's even more important at the prep sink than at the clean up sink [but I'm not giving up either ;-) ]....See MorePrep sink - GD, waste basket, soap dispenser - what size cabinet?
Comments (5)For us, the round sink was a happy accident. I wanted a rectangular sink, but the only ones that weren't too deep front-to-back for a faucet to fit behind it were tiny! In a panic I posted here, and it was suggested that I try a round sink. Best suggestion EVER! I know, 16" sounds small, but it's really rather spacious, more so than the 13x16.5" one we originally wanted. I can easily rinse off my cutting boards, our big pasta pot fits in there easily for filling, as does our salad spinner. We often use this sink as a place to thaw frozen stuff by submerging the frozen package in cold water and even our largest meat packs fit in there. It's very roomy for prepping and it's not unusual for us to have a colander sitting in there while trimming other veggies and we still have enough room to access the GD. BTW, we have the Insinkerator evolution compact model and it is AMAZING! It almost silently gobbles up everthing we've thrown at it. If you're unsure about whether a sink size will be the right size for you, do a mock-up! Cut out a piece of cardboard the size of the sink and put it on your counter. The put your pasta pot on it and see if it fits. Repead for cutting boards, colanders etc. You can also bring your kitchen stuff to a sink showroom and try out the real thing if the showroom has sinks in the sizes you're interested in....See MoreShould there be a soap dispenser at the prep sink?
Comments (6)For me, I think the soap needs to be handy for reasons Miko stated. I have a soap dispenser that came with the faucet, and i don't like it for either type of soap. So I bought a Simple Human soap dispenser with the sensor. No touching with yucky hands. I still have to use the back of my hand to turn the water on, but I have at least eliminated one of the grimy things to clean. I'm debating on whether or not to install a tap master in the new kitchen....See MoreRelated Professionals
