Finished cutting board and Bianco Romano pic
Comments (7)Thanks everyone. I'll pass along the compliments to Hubby. (Funny aside; As he was showing me the finished product he said "Now you can take a picture...") raehelen: The finish is the Land Ark stuff posted above. One coat of the pre-mixed TransTint finish and then two coats of the concentrated finishing oil. trailrunner: He's learning as we go (did I mention he's very smart and talented and persistent?). Wet sanding basically means you sand with really find grit sandpaper while the finish is still really wet. Here's a more technical description: "Apply the oil finish liberally, and gently sand it along the grain of the wood with 400 or 600 grit wet sandpaper. This will create a thin paste, which actually seals the wood grain and protects the wood. Wipe it off extremely thoroughly once all the wood is saturated and let it dry. It is important to remove every bit of excess from the wood. Wipe until your cloth is coming off clean."...See MoreBianco Romano/what color Sillgranite ll sink?
Comments (14)Sarakat - going a little OT here, but a disposal should not smell whatsoever. If it does, it likely means the food is not being ground completely. Typically, when that is the case, it is because the disposal is one of the lower-end "badger" styles, which is what builders usually provide as "standard" as you said. This topic has been discussed on this forum and the Appliances forum a number of times. The disposal should be a 3/4 hp disposal or a 1 hp disposal, nothing less. You should buy your own disposal, not use what the builder gives you, unless he is providing a 3/4 hp or 1/hp model. Both Insinkerator and Waste King make excellent disposals. Again, search for threads on these topics. Many people say they wouldn't have a disposal less than 1 hp, but those 1 hp disposals take up more space under the sink. I have a 3/4 hp disposal and it is great. If you still have drain smells with a 3/4 hp disposal, then there is something wrong with your plumbing venting. I myself am a single-bowl person, and I prefer having just one drain. Many people will only have a double bowl sink, and feel just as strongly, so it is a personal choice. I vote for the Silgranit Biscuit color, as I would be concerned that the white is too "white" for your granite. But it is best for you to see samples of both colors right against your granite. Have you received the samples from Blanco?...See MoreEveryone with Bianco Romano (or similar)...
Comments (5)My Bianco Romano is being installed in 10 days (can hardly wait). My walls are painted BM Silver Fox which is a beautiful gray. It's not too green, not too blue and not too brown. It looks really good with the BR sample I have & also with my very dark chocolate cabinets. I've elected (at least for now)not to do a backsplash as I like the simplicity of the paint. Will post a photo once the granite is in....See MoreBianco Romano or Sienna Bordeaux?
Comments (6)Research queen: Your kitchen is stunning. Your BR looks quite different from mine. I've seen other examples of BR on GW, and it seems there are alot of variations, or granite yards applying different names to different granites. I wanted a BR without the pink or burgundy, so I chose one that had very little of that. But it sure looks amazing with your cabinets. rdw: after seeing research queen's kitchen, I think the BR would be perfect. As for the price, it sounds awfully good to me. If I remember correctly, we paid $85/sq ft, and installing the sink & cooktop, and the upgraded edge were extra....See Moreginad
