Finished Cream with Glaze kitchen PICS

I can't take a decent photo to show the warm cream with Van Dyke brown glazed cabinets but here's the best I can do. It's kind of vintage feeling. There are "feet" on the kitchen sink cabinet that you can't see. The cabinets are custom made by SC Brown Cabinet Co, Cabinets are maple painted with Velvet White (Benjamin Moore?) and a Van Dyke glaze. ORB knobs were the BEST find thanks to this forum from Cripe Distributing (You have to buy in lots of 25 but they come out to .50 per knob!!) The pulls on the island are from Expo , Sink is Blanco Silgranit in Anthracite (loving it), Fridge is Amana French Door style (like it a lot), Bosch oven, JennAire Microwave, Bosch cooktop and pop up vent. Faucet is Pegasus. We kept the tile floor and Bosch dishwasher that we'd bought 2 years prior. Granite is Tropic Brown. We did knock out an existing wall between the kitchen and dining room and on the dining room side, I don't have the photos but we added glass cabinets on either side for glasses and storage and extended the peninsula granite to give a serving area to the dining room.

So first BEFORE photos (we had a pantry wall that I loved because it held all our cluttered junk) but wasn't so stylish I guess. The "before" cabs were 1963 original slab plywood and tended to leave shredded wood bits in the cutlery drawer and around the plates. Just time to go.

WOW, what a transformation! Beautiful kitchen. Tropical Brown granite always looks so good with creamy glazed cabinets. Your pantry wall unit is spectacular. Really lovely. Love your mix of cabinet hardware and what a price! Great job.

My kitchen is not finished, but all my cabinets are here in boxes. I am doing cherry inset doors with an applied moulding on the perimeter and a cream island. The island will have full overlay doors. The pics show my sample doors. The cabinets are Crystal Cabinet Works out of MN. The cherry is stained with a chestnut stain and has a black glaze. The cream is actually called frosty white with a vandyke brown glaze. Both doors have some distressing. The cream cabinet is my sink base for my island. I went with glazing on both my cherry perimeter cabinets and also the cream island. The cherry is stained in chestnut with a black glaze and the island is frosty white with a van dyke brown glaze. The pics show my sample doors and the actual bottom of my wood range hood. The cream cabinet is my island sink base. I am glad I went with the glazing as it really brings out the details. kimmieb - What an extremely thoughtful, resourceful and inspiring "refresh" - I am sure you will like it more than you would the 100K kitchen (I do :) because you did it yourself, worked with what you had and made it your own. Not to mention that you used an incredibly fabulous and relaxing color in the kitchen. I say... gray-blue, blue-gray, gray-blue, a little green-gray and maybe something slightly purple-blue-gray - that is where my brain lives these days. My old place was more yellow/beige and fresh greens/blue-greens. I had to fight myself to not make our current place blue-gray inside and out but needed other colors - if only to complement/accent more blue-gray :) It is amazing how color preferences can shift. Believe it or not my horizon's actually expended after many hours on the kitchen and home decorating forum. I even painted a bathroom tomato red! I hope your kitchen inspires more beautiful colorful painted kitchens.

mrsandrews, Your cabs look beautiful! I would love to find out what your cab and ESP. glaze colors are! I just had an entertainment center built (it looks great; I'm really excited) and I need to let my guy know what color glaze to do *soon*--like tomorrow :-) My cab was painted in SW Ivoire, and I don't want the glaze to make it any yellower. Right now it reads creamy ivory to slightly yellow (depending on time of day/lighting), and that's fine. Plus, I only want a very light amount of glazing to remain, which is how yours look on my monitor. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Again, it's looking great over at your house. Can't wait to see your finished project!

Fabulous transformation! Everything looks great but I love the layout of your oven wall - it has so much character with the arched top doors, the shallower glass cabinets, and the pantry doors.

Your remodeled kitchen is lovely. I like everything you changed or added. I really like the island.

I am going to check out Cripe Distributing. I am now at the place in my cabinet refacing where I need to select knobs and pulls, and I just cannot make up my mind.

Thank you everyone. I realized I listed an Amana fridge when it's actually a Maytag (but aren't they the same company anyway :) ). The local appliance company recommended this one for counter depth, FD, water/ice in door function. After all the researching and checking in person, I was just finally ready to say "whatever". So far so good though.
Tear down started June 17th and we were cooking again Sept. 17th. We had a great GC/KD and loved the cabinet maker too. It was a very good process but we're glad to have a functioning kitchen again!

I had to wipe the drool off of my keyboard so I could respond! That is gorgeous!!!! The more I come on this site the more I fall in love with cream colored cabinetry. Only problem is that I didn't find this site till AFTER we purchased all of our cabinets.

IMHO glaze is too dark for this finish color, it looks dirty.
Backsplash and countertop are fantastic!
Try to find cream colored elecrical outlets/switches instead of those yellow ones.

MaryElizabeth - The tile was from HomeDepot (trying to save somewhere!) It is in the tumbled section and is not the very lightest color but the second, slightly darker. Just can't recall the exact name ("Chiaro"? maybe). There is no grout. The tile man used a product that allows for no grout. The ONLY thing about that is that for some crazy reason, that product is a red color and there were very tiny places where that peeped through so the tile man just dabbed on a bit of paint and now you can't see that at all...but it makes me wonder why that substance is RED!

Rosalita -- I really love this look! Did you see the "no grout" look somewhere else? I wonder about dust and food getting in the cracks, though. I'd love more info on it if you have any and I'm going to do some research on it myself because this is exactly the look I was envisioning for my backsplash.

A friend of mine had this "no grout" look and she told me she had seen it in several kitchen magazines. I used her tile man to do the job too. Although we still have a few things left to be done and tweaked, we've been able to cook in the kitchen for a good 3 weeks and I haven't seen any evidence of dirt or anything getting in the cracks. In fact, maybe because there's less of a line as you'd have with grout, there's less chance anything would get there. Might be a question for Bill Vincent on this forum. He also might know if there's a backing glue that is not red.
