30-inch canopy range hood recommendations
Comments (1)For spec reasons, compatibility, matching the hood to the range maker is often recommended. I noted a lot use mesh too. I wonder if you may upgrade to baffles. If you can, it may cost less by means of aggravation in the end. That said, here are a few companies that I bookmarked: http://www.rangecraft.com/ http://www.prizerhoods.com/ http://wolf.com http://thermador.com...See MoreQuestion on 30 inch range decision
Comments (6)If this range will be your only oven I would go with a dual fuel range I have the American and love it. I purchased it because they are made in LA about 130 miles from my home and I can literally get factory service. It is easily as good, probably better, than my old Wolf that was a pre-SubZero model. I've also had the KA Architect range and was very happy, but it only has 15K burners. My sister has an all gas Cafe and I have cooked on it and was impressed, but I probably wouldn't buy one. Nothing wrong with them, but they don't have the bling factor of the commercial-style ranges and they are essentially the same as the high-end Profile ranges which cost less. The Capital ranges also impressed me, plus some are self-cleaning!...See MoreHelp...decision on finish of mantle style hood
Comments (10)It looks like I'll have to get a stained hood. My GC thinks the big issue is that the hood is not a stand alone type. As it's connected to the cabinets next to it, the same height and connected with crown moulding, he is urging me to go with stained. He also doesn't think I can have corbels on the hood mantel either unless I want that "mantle/shelf" to stick out 8" further into the room than the cabinets. A corbel-less mantle would only stick out half as much. My walkway in front of that cooktop area is rather small - about 38" between cooktop wall and island. If I really want to paint something else in the kitchen to break up the stain, he will concede that I do it on the china hutch. You can see just the bottom section of it in the picture below. It's the cabinet box with granite on top - back left of the island. The top wasn't on it in this picture. Does this sound like a better solution?...See More30 inch, 32 inch or 36 inch farm sink?
Comments (15)@Ellen Allard My sink is from Havens Metal. Havens Metal When I was remodeling I did a lot of research on copper sinks once I decided I wanted one and so I knew that I wanted a sink that had a living patina and not any kind of artificial factory patina. The sink is expensive - a luxury but I love it. The other maker of high quality sinks is Rachiele and they are equivalent. Havens actually fabricated the Rachiele sinks for many years until they went their separate ways. When I purchased my sink, Havens was about $1000 less for the same configuration. The quality is equivalent but Havens is a slightly larger operation and makes more than sinks so they have economy of scale to some degree. I do have a less expensive copper sink in my guest bath with an artificial factory finish. I was fine with that because it just doesn't get the same kind of wear from people washing their hands a few times a week. That sink is from Premier Copper Products. I mention them because they do have some great copper stuff that is well priced. My hood is a custom job from them and they also did a custom copper medallion my designer sketched for them. I also have some copper tiles from them interspersed in my back splash as well as switch plates. Premier Copper...See Morescrappy25
