Thanks for more pictures...I just love your retro bathroom. IMHO, I would paint the walls an off-white or white, then you could use a matching white toilet/sink combo. For some reason I don't find the wood (mirror & cabinet) a good match for retro. Having grown up in a neighborhood of bungalow styled homes in San Diego, a lot of homes still have that retro bathroom look. I have often seen the primary color (such as your tan tiles) punched up with black accents, might not be for you, but thought I would mention it. What I would do over the sink is place a large round beveled mirror held up with clear plastic rosette holders. I would leave the towel rack, since you can cover the bar with towels. Replace the switch plates with a matching tile color or white porcelain. A mirrored door cabinet over the toilet would match the theme...not sure if recessed or not-recessed would work best in your space. What color do you love that would complement the tile color? Hope you don't mind all these suggestions...LOL. My Mom still owns the little bungalow home (she rents it out now) that I grew up in and that bathroom was pink and black...it was small but seemed so big in decor. tdesanti, beautiful choices. BTW, quartzite is harder than granite and shouldn't scratch very easily. The info above isn't totally correct. Quartzite can stain, depending on the type that you have. do you have a spare piece you can test? Do the lemon test, and the scratch test with it (use a piece of glass to scratch the surface. does the stone scratch? if so, you don't have quartzite!. True quartzite will not etch either) I have to agree w/waiting until everything is installed and done before deciding on a tile. Unless, you just love that brass inlay choice and want to do it. If so, go for it. I can't offer any advice until I actually see the kitchen. If going off of this only, then I think your diamond tile is fine. It works well w/your quartzite. I'd do the entire wall up to the ceiling all the way over. You don't have a large enough area to do a small area behind the stove. once the hood is up, it's going to eat up most of that wall. Your tile is too large to do an accent. Do the entire wall! I waited one year before deciding on mine. I did a brass inlay that was cut to fit in the vertical grout lines of each marble tile. (Brass Schluter Jolly is what I used) I have plenty of other gold accenting. (and I have a lot of black and white off to the left that you can't see to balance things) If and when gold goes out, I'll change the pendants and the hardware. the gold around the tile is very mild and isn't that noticeable.
