HELP!! Glass Tile company names for backsplash????

Hello All...I am so grateful that I have found this site. I am in the process of picking out my backsplash for my new kitchen. I am having a heck of a time. I am looking to put in a 2x4 glass subway backsplash with some type of mosiac over the range.

I need the names of Glass Tile Manufacturers that I can look into to find 2x4 glass tiles. I alredy know the following companies and still can't find what I need...

Walker Zanger (best match called Cashmere but no 2x4s)

Ann Sacks

American Olean

Crossville

My cabinets are a light espresso/chocolate brown..my granite is New Bianco Antique..very white based.

I am DESPERATE to find a 2x4 glass tile that matches. Can anyone tell me different manufacturers to look into? Thank you so much in advance.

I agree... and disagree... with your sales person. I agree in that there's no need for crack isolation behind a backsplash. However, I DON'T agree that it's okay to install glass with any kind of mastic, no matter what color it is. To get the same ease of installation that your sales person's talking about, and still get the strength of thinset, look to the non-sag thinsets. My preference, because of how highly modified it is, would be Laticrete's 255. Most glass manufacturers recommend using their 254 Platinum thinset because of its bonding strength. The 255 not only is a non-sag thinset (it won't allow the tile to droop while drying like most thinsets), but it's also got even a stronger bonding strength than the 254. That's something not one of the other non-sag thinsets can claim.

Google "back painted glass" and your city and you should get some options. At least where I am (DC metro area) the prices varied wildly. All of my outlets are under cabinet, but i understand the glass folks simply cut out the outlets and polish the edges, just as the edges at the end of a counter run are polished to a smooth finish. My glass has little tiny notches cut out for the wire for the under cab plugs. Best of luck.

We did our backsplash a couple of months ago. It is 1" x 12" glass tiles that came on a sheet of mesh. I'm not sure if the mesh is the membrane they are talking about. I would ask your guy to use the membrane even though he feels it isn't necessary, I think it would make you feel better or you wouldn't be asking the question. Also we used white thinset. It looks great! Good luck!

Keep the companies coming :) I ordered a sample from Modern Tile but still searching as well...

So if you have any other companies send them my way :)

Stone & Pewter Accets, who own Lunada Bay and Malaga Cove, have some 2"x4" glass tiles. I don't know if they have a match for you.

Check out their other lines as well. They have something like a dozen glass tile lines. They might be able to do you a custom run if you prefer one of the others.
