Anita, the backsplash is looking beautiful! I would definitely pick a blending grout. Do you have one of the grout color charts with about 50 grout colors? Hold the tile against it in natural light and pick the one that matches best. Then check the match in artificial light.

That is beautiful!! I'd choose a blending grout too. Maybe a creamy white or a light gray would work.

I just looked at the pics again and, in several of the pics it looks already grouted. I know it's just shadows I am seeing, but the color that it looks in the pictures would be perfect, sort of a very pale gray.

Oh my that is gorgeous stuff!! I wouldn't want anything to distract from the backsplash so I would work with a grout that blends into the scene. The tile is spectacular with your countertop and cabinets. Here's a pat on the back for a good job!

Oh my goodness, now I am envious: the tile oracle has spoken. Anita, since you have received the definitive grout list, I am blatantly hijacking the thread. Please, Bill, tell: what color grout would you use with Fire and Ice? Do you think I would be okay with almond? I am trying to pull out the golds.

For the grout, since you have tiles in varying colours, I would make the grout slightly lighter than the lightest tile that you have. That way, there is enough of a contrast all around so you can see the definition around both light tiles and dark tiles. Or alternately, you can choose a grout that's slightly darker than your darkest tile, but that is a more "contrasty" look and I'd prefer the lighter grout.

I see a potential problem with trying to blend your grout with your tiles, and that is - which tile colour are you trying to blend with? If you choose one tile (medium tile colour for example) and blend the grout with it, then there will be contrast around all tiles EXCEPT for the tile that you matched the grout to. I hope I'm making sense...

I tried to see what colors Bill recommends but couldn't find them displayed on a short scan.

You know, Nomoreblue, I always tend to prefer minimal-contrast grout lines, but in your case I'm surprised to be the odd man out. I love, love your tile, but in that context I think I'd choose to integrate it with the dark surfaces surrounding it by using a grout that refers back to them. Perhaps a gray roughly the same as the darkest tile would work.

Redroze, I see exactly what you mean! When someone said something earlier about matching the tile to grout, I was thinking "but which part of which tile am I matching TO?" Very confusing! I'm going to look at Bill's recs tomorrow and will follow with doing a sample patch.

morton5, you could actually go in a couple of different directions with that tile. Both greys AND tans would work with it.
