The kitchen police are sure to come in and arrest you. Seriously, my stove is shiny stainless and the refrigerator only 10" away is that brushed stainless look. I don't even notice it.

Katmandu, I have two different finishes (moen ORB and what I can only describe as "brown") on my faucet and instant hot. The instant hot is the odd one out, since the ORB is on the faucet, separate handle, and soap dispenser. The shape of the instant hot is right, and 90% of the time the difference in color doesn't bother me. Maybe even closer to 99% of the time. I did, however, just notice it again yestrday (poor timing for you!) and wonder if I should do anything about it someday. I probably won't ever change it, but I think the problem isn't the difference as much as it is the actual color: The "brown" is sort of lifeless, like someone spray painted it. YMMV, but I probably wouldn't worry about it too much. I think the stainless finishes work together better.

Personally...I would send one of them back and learn to love one that matches, or order both in chrome which alway matches. It would bother me a lot...I just wouldn't even do it.

I currently have a brushed nickle pot filler in my kitchen with all of my chrome fixtures. It drives me nuts and yet, I know it's only there for code issues and we'll switch out next week. And it's feet away from my other faucets...but it looks like crap.

I really think it is totally personal preference. Most of us have to make trade offs somewhere along the way, you just have to decide what yours will be. :)

Brushed nicked and stainless frequently don't match. There is a faucet finish matching chart for ISE instant hots. What brand is your filtered faucet, and which main faucet do you have? In some cases between brands there is no match, but in many there are. You might also be able to find a match just by changing brands of filtered faucet. There are also often similar main faucets in different brands that might match better. Would that be an option?

I don't mind things that are different but they have to be planned that way or be barely noticeable. A clearly noticeable difference that is not different enough to be planned would probably drive me nuts. I was obsessing about it in my own kitchen, and it was one reason I switched to chrome. I would rather see a black or white faucet in there if it matched the rest of the kitchen than mismatched silver finishes. For example if you had white cabinets and appliances a white filter faucet would kind of "disappear", rather than being more noticeable. If you had very dark cabinets with black glazing and/or black appliances that might work as well.

In my kitchen, chrome looks fine at the sink with BN knobs and ss appliances, but everything at the sink matches, ss finishes are from the same manufacturer and match and certainly all my knob finishes match. And none are obviously yellower than another, etc. It doesn't look "matchy matchy" but coordinates well. Like using different shades of a color in a room.

You obviously have to decide what bothers you and what doesn't.

Sue, thanks for that finish matching chart. My main faucet is (or might be - ha) Blanco. It must be their satin nickel, which has an oddly shiny quality to it and is the darker grey one. The filter faucet is Newport Brass in stainless steel. It's the Blanco that's weird, but my second choice by Grohe is taking forever to arrive and I am tempted to chuck the matching issue (which initially really bothered me) just to be done with the whole thing because I have these two in my possession at this very moment. I am back and forth on whether it will bother me in the long run or not. Guess there's one way to find out. : ) Now the Perrin and Rowe I REALLY want would be much closer but can't stomache the price. Oh well, thanks for your input. I'm still on the fence.

Do you like any of the Newport Brass kitchen faucets? They would then match exactly. I have noticed that satin nickel finished do vary per company. I'm doing my pulls and knobs in satin nickel and it is hard to mix and match between companies.
