Read past threads but still confused about Xenon vs LED lights

I need to decide on the undercabinet and in-cabinet lighting Super-FAST!

We went to a lighting store and spoke with their kitchen lighting expert. She recommends LED due to XENON being too warm. In fact while I was there, a customer came in and complained that his xenon lights produce too much heat, enough to melt chocolate on the counter.

DH went to another store on Saturday which recommended either Xenon lights which come in a rectangular fixture of 2,3,4 etc. lights or Xenon strips. DH said he asked to turn them on for 30 min and they were just a bit warm, not hot.

LED is expensive so DH thinks it is a waste of money. But I know we are going to have those lights ON (both under and in cabinet) most of time when someone is home, so I am really worried about the heat output.

I am totally confused about the Xenon, is it hot or is it not? Is it a matter of brand or installation? I read the threads on the forum but just got more confused. Can someone please explain?
