Do you have any Pottery Barn Lighting?

Our kitchen rennovation has creeped all the way to the front door; can't have a lovely new kitchen with an ugly dated light in the front entry, can we?

I'm considering either the Camilla or Clarissa chandeliers. Does anyone have either of these? I'm a little concerned about cleaning, since it will be hanging in a two story entry. I went to Pottery Barn last night to see it in person but our store didn't have any lighting like this on display.

I'll cross post in lighting but this is my hangout and there is so little traffic there compared to here.

What do you'all think?

The Clarissa looks like a dining room chandelier to me -- and a pain to clean no matter where you have it. The Camilla looks like dusting would be sufficient most of the time and that you could clean it more thoroughly if needed. Just make sure the size is good for a 2 story entry. Look at at hung over the table in that one photo. Our entry fixture is about 19" wide by at least 30" high. We also have a significant amount of wood trim in the entry, so the fixture needed a bit of heft to balance, but it really doesn't seem that large when it is hung 10 feet up and is the only thing in the space. Except when you try to install the beast (heavy and fragile).

Good point, Lascatx. The demensions are 30 tall x 28 diameter, so I thought it was probably big enough. But hanging over that table it doesn't look all that big in the photo.

The beast we have up there now is about 33 tall but less than 23 across. There is a second story window that is over the entry door, and this would hang directly across from that window. I was thinking that if it was dwarfed in the space I would put it over our dining room table. That light is due to be replaced anyway.

FWIW, fall may be better time to go than now. It was never a problem before the economy took a dive but they changed the stores format a couple of years ago, cutting back on at least half of the inventory. They only seem to stock up in fall and spring. It seems they use summer and winter to get rid of holiday & seasonal items and just let the normal inventory wain while pushing the other stuff. It doesn't get restocked much at all and when it's gone, it's gone. I took the hike to our local store last week to look for dining chairs. It's an hour north of here and pretty much all the store had going on was the summer clearance and a large stock of bigger sized furniture pieces. The bedding area was almost completely empty, the sheets has all sizes in only white, the colors are almost gone. Shelves for quilts and duvets, lamps and drapes are also pretty much cleared out. Bathroom accessories, only 1 shelf as opposed to several rows. They also used to have several rows of chairs & bar stools, now they're just lined up against the back wall. This is the second year this has happened, so maybe it's the new normal with the economy. It was sure a trip wasted for me. :c( Just thought I'd give you all a heads up...you may want to call and see how their inventory is before you decide on a date to go.

I do have one of those "crazy big mattresses" :-). That was why I was concerned! I think the queen will be too small and the kind too big according to the sizes listed. I thought to save money by ordering the Pottery Barn quilt(nearly a hundred dollars with quilt and shams)vs the Restoration Hardware quilt that has a more generous size. Does anyone have suggestions for where I might find an oversize ivory quilt with decent quality that is a bit less expensive than RH? Thank you for all your feedback! Carol

I have the Jan 2008 catalog and the single (36x24.5x36) is $1499 but the mini (26x23x36) is $999 -does that help?

Many thanks. A train rack for the bathroom was what I wanted as well, the Mercer collection. It was on closeout for $159 and I had a 15% off discount code so it came out at half the price of the Kohler rack I was going to use, and it looks a lot prettier. It's only going to hold towels, so hopefully it will be okay. I did get the matching towel bar and a couple smaller items as well. They certainly do have beautiful stuff. The only thing I ever purchased from them were bed linens, and they were some of the best I've ever bought. I have been using them for years and years. Fingers crossed! Thanks again.

The dimensions I am seeing on the Clarissa are 13" wide x 19.5 tall -- and that was actually the one I was talking about. Looks like I have multiple windows open and got the names confused. The Camilla is the one that looks like it would be the devil to clean. Sorry about that.

FYI, PB never has the hanging fixtures in their stores. You can only see photos online :( I have 4 fixtures from PB, but not those two. The Clarissa is new in the last month.

I think cleaning will be an issue with anything you put up that high, but a duster on an extension stick should do the job. Also, you won't really notice the dirt as often if it is that far up... right? Have you had an issue with the current fixture?

Our Lowes has had a fixture very similar to Camilla for some time. (I think it is Lowes and not Home Depot, but.... I might have them mixed up) .... You might want to try those stores to look at how hard it would be to clean it.

Pottery Barn uses different manufacturers with their lighting, but I've been very happy with all of my fixtures (Bellora, Audrina, Armonk 3 arm and Armonk 6 arm) ... just in case you have any concerns over quality. :)

Thanks, you guys. I saw one that was similar too, LoLauren, I think it was at HD. But not as beautiful; I didn't think the crystals were very high quality and the twigs were a funny color. I didn't think about cleaning it cause but I agree it should be OK with a duster. Glad you like your PB lights. I agree

The one I have installed now isn't very clean but it's been neglected in the kitchen rennovation. The entry is open to the hallway in the second story so I can actually reach it with a duster from the upstairs. Makes me a little weak kneed but that's a whole other story. ;)

LasCatX, I get it. Most of this month I've had way too many windows open. Every time I sit down on-line it seems I'm shopping for Corbels and Pendants and sinks and knobs and yeah, I can relate.
