When I read the title of your post, I immediately thought of that photo, which I love. While I don't know what the countertop material is, I can tell you that the photo is featured on the Rohl web site. I do know that it is a Crown Point kitchen with Horton Brasses hardware. If you contact Crown Point, they should be able to tell you :) I always wondered the same. It is a beautiful kitchen. Be sure to pass on the info if you get it!

Sabjimata is right. It's a Crown Point kitchen that is on their website. I'm pretty sure they did lavastone. I think the only more expensive counter type is pure diamonds, and the pieces they can produce are relatively small so there are multiple seams. It was the Country Living house of the year at some point. Here's a link to the pics.

Several of the solid surface companies make light blue countertops...I kept seeing them when I was looking for dark blue for my bathroom reno.
