backsplash for colonial cream granite countertop
Comments (9)Thank you all so much for your quick responses!!! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures yet since we are still under construction. As far as some of the questions...I would say we are more contemporary and elegant. We are open to all tile material, but probably lean more towards ceramic and glass. The walls in the kitchen are Nugget by Benjamin Moore. The Island cabinets are Cinnamon Glaze and the floor is Brazilian Tigerwood. The sink, faucet, pot filler and appliances are stainless. Another question, we are undecided about the cabinet hardware. Is it ok to do Antique Bronze hardware with stainless faucets/appliances and satin nickel mountings for pendant lights?...See MoreBacksplash for cherry cabs and colonial cream granite?
Comments (30)The aqua color just isn't right with the counters and cherry cabs, IMO. I know the tumbled travertine backsplash was expensive, but the pinky beige color with the golden counters is off as well. I would do cream subways as others have suggested and add in aqua accents for fun. Keep your hard finishes (and paint color) neutral and play with the accents. A year from now you really might be tired of the aqua, but it will be easier and less expensive to switch out....See Morewhat cabinet color goes w black stainless steel appliances
Comments (33)It's the "black glaze" part that I'd eliminate. Glazing like that has a tendency to make the cabinet just look shabby and old. There's enough going on with the gray stain on the wood, no need for glaze too. You also better make sure you will be comfortable with the variegations in the wood which will come to the surface with that wash. See on the sample pic you posted of the Snowbank door how the vertical, horizontal, and center panel pieces look so different from each other? Make sure you see it IRL and imagine that all over your kitchen. Some people--maybe you--might say "how charming, I love that". Others might not. Which one are you?...See MoreUpdating kitchen - looking for paint ideas for colonial white granite
Comments (7)Not what you asked, but I would not choose Colonial White granite. It is one of the most stain-prone granites there is. You will need to be sealing it 4x a year, and even then, it will even absorb water around your sink, much less oil and foods. The whole point of getting a granite counter is its toughness- -except for a few like Colonial White, Imperial White, Glacier White and Kashmir White. Instead, for low-maintenance white-background granites, check out Alaska White, White Delicatus, or Viscon (sometimes Viscont or Viscount) granite....See MoreMuleHouse
