Looking for 60' round pedestal table--

Anyone have any good suggestions for a 60" round pedestal table? Doesn't need to be fancy- black or black with cherry would be great...

Price- would prefer not to spend a lot as we have 4 1/2 and 7 yr old daughters who sometimes forget that it is not their art table-- I have been looking a lot but just curious if anyone knows of a site I may be missing--

I have this one (or very similar - it's been 5 years) - expands to 60, making it oval, and we always just left the leaf in.

My kids were 6 and 8 when I got it and it does have marks where aggressive with writing without a pad underneath their homework. It's a soft wood, probably pine. Luckily it was the "distressed look" anyway, so those marks, chips, didn't detract.

You might try overstock.com too.

I would head straight for the nearest second hand store. Second stop would be the junky antique stores. Not the fancy all shiny and polished antiques, the warehouse dirty kind. A used furniture place would be a good possibility, too. If you buy something old and refinish it (if needed) you will have a great piece of furniture. I've had my used round oak kitchen table for over 40 years. I just refinished it the other day after someone let a can of Mountain Dew leak on it and I didn't know it. It had been in my garage for over 5 years after I moved waiting for the great kitchen remodel. The Mountain Dew took the finish and every bit of color off it. I had to refinish it. It's by far a better quality than anything you could buy for the same money now.

I'm not sure what delivery options are for these or whether they have a leaf, but a call or e-mail to them would give you what you need to know, plus maybe a picture of the round tables (thought I had seen one on the website but couldn't find it just now, but it says they have them). I've seen the rectangular ones in person and they are very nice, look like they are built for heavy kitchen use. I can't vouch for them from personal experience though. Check out Room and Board. They have a tulip table called Aria. It is not listed on the website but you can just buy the base. You will need to call their toll-free number. I did this. But, if I remember correctly when I did some sleuthing for "tulip table base" or "trumpet table base" a Canadian manufacturer came up in my search but they would not ship to the U.S. Sorry I do not remember the name. Just make sure the base can handle the weight of a heavy top. Also, the R&B table tops in quartz or granite do not secure to the base. I really dislike this and several people in the reviews have asked about it. Personally, no matter what you do, make sure it is secure. A banquette requires a lot of squeezing in and out and moving the top is a real possibility with the right force. Use a smaller piece of plywood (say 24 round) and construction adhesive to secure the quartz top then use good wood screws to secure to the base.

Thanks @Patricia Colwell. I think the room can handle it, but since you mention it... The room is 11 x 13, so I initially figured an oval table would be good. However, one of the ends of the room is a walkway from the kitchen to the living room so I'd like to keep that clear. End result will be a round table centered in a rectangular room. Posting a couple pics but please ignore the mess...We are cleaning the basement and things are making their way to a huge donate pile in my living room. Still need paint and trim throughout the house but that Black Friday sale on the table...

Thank you again. I am absolutely set on the table I ordered. It is 60 inch round, solid wood (to match light(s) and chairs) and gorgeous. I have an 8 foot round rug I also plan to use. A little history… Before deciding on a round table of this size, I removed present table and chairs from room. I placed a 60 inch rug — I had from years ago, as a table “template”. I then placed 6 (and even 8) chairs around template rug. Even with 8 chairs, the room was easier to navigate and looked roomier than with the pictured/present oblong table. Perhaps this is because the room is more square. Finally, if the round table is centered under the tray and 6 chairs are positioned properly, the French doors can be fully open... The new table is a single pedestal so chairs can really scoot under it. The present table had two large end pedestals that necessitated that chairs couldn't go far enough under top. Hope that makes sense! :) The only reason I came to Houzz was to ask for opinions on lighting for above the 60 inch round table. Thank you again!
