I think it sounds great! I would love to see that Navy and Orange room. I've got a bedroom to be done using those colors with silver/gray.

I did a kitchen that was Navy and essentially orange in one of the Design Around threads. I think it was leopard tile but I can't find it.

My den will be the chocolate hardwood floors, BM 'Kasbah' on the walls (dusty purple) and BM 'Weimarinar' on the ceiling (grayish/bone color) -- and I know I murdered the dogs' breed name.

I'm contemplating how to deal with an antique settee with new upholstery in a dusty raspberry color. Family piece she recovered. Talk about not afraid of color! At one point she'd painted everything in sight a dark, wedge wood blue. The next house was a burgundy/cranberry and other jewel tones.

I guess I'm kind of a "fall" person where colors come in. I love my gray-green cabinet paint and natural woods.

So much depends on the style and aesthetic that you have/desire for the rest of your home. You probably don't want a series of unconnected or competitive visual styles.

If you have neutral floors (wood, for example) and your base and window trim are painted, then painted cabinets would look wonderful. On the other hand, if you have colorful tile floors and/or the strong use of natural finished woods elsewhere in your house, you may want a neutral looking bank of cabinets for harmony.

That said, there's nothing that says all of the cabinets have to be finished identically. A accent color for a bank of cabinets contrasted with neutral cabinets could be striking.

Pick your cabinets; thereafter pick your counter tops and splashes. Good luck with your choices!

I must be veeeeeeeery boring. I'd put in white cabs and marble counters. Oops. I *did* chose those finishes. I didn't choose them for re-sale. I chose them because they make me happy. I might, however, go with a medium silver gray for 2y.o. DD's room if DH hadn't nixed the idea. I've always wanted a little girl in a pink room. When I finally got her, I needed to have her room pink I envisioned for decades. Maybe I'll wait till she's 5 for the gray. Fun!
