Finished Kitchen: White-ish, charcoal counters and blue glass bs
Comments (43)Alexx - I really love your kitchen! It came out beautifully!! I have a question about your counters. I am doing a similar look with the white shaker cabs (framed w/full overlay) and quartz (Caesarstone Raven) countertops. I will also be doing a mitered edge with a 1.5" overhang. My question is ... how far do your counters project past your cabinet boxes, as well as past the doors/drawer fronts. There is some dispute between my cabinet maker and the countertop folks. Cabinet maker says I should have a 1" projection past the doors/drawer fronts, while the countertop folks are suggesting a "flush" appearance (not truly flush, but more like a 1/4" projection). Can you tell me what yours are? And if anyone reading this has suggestions or advice, I would appreciate it! Thank you!...See MoreHow can I reach my kitchen garden window to clean the glass?

Comments (12)Thank you, everyone. It's not so high that I can't reach it with my arm, so with a short stool I'll be safe. I just need to find a paint I can use with a sponge or small brush (not spray paint). If I'm going to pay an electrician to take it down, I might as well get a new one. I found this two years ago at a local home boutique, and had a lamp store rework it from a plug-in to a hanging pendant. Not something I can take back! But rebunky, this has happened to multiple vases, so I'm careful now. It's a shame all these manufacturers sell this stuff, with no warning. I've taken vases back to Pottery Barn and Target, and the sales clerks just shrug and give me my money back. Not so easy with this pendant....See MoreCleaning Glass Pendants—PIA???
Comments (14)Is your cooktop/range in the island that these pendants are hanging over? I guess if that's the case and you aren't running the hood when you cook or use a nonstick spray, any pendants could get greasy. Only recessed lights will avoid this fate. The third pendant you posted (Feiss Lawler), however, is an enclosed globe. This would be the easiest to clean since you only have to worry about the outside, and won't have to get into the intricate details of the metal and glass up inside the other/bell-shaped pendants you listed. Regardless, make sure you run that hood even when using the nonstick spray before cooking, and be sure to spray even muffin tins, casserole dishes, etc ALWAYS beneath the hood...it will suck the airborne residue right up :)...See More- 13 years ago
