I agree, I joined this forum after finding it while searching for a home repair solution. While the information was very valuable and I joined just to respond to the poster with the solution, I don't know how often I will peruse this site just for the fun of it. I it not user friendly at all compared to 90% of the other sites out there. This will inevitably cause me to go elsewhere and therefore one less person to keep the traffic numbers up and therefore less revenue from advertisers. I wish this would be otherwise as this site has fantastic contributes and a wealth of knowledge, but I find it easier to navigate this site through a google search than through the site's own organization and mechanisms. Too bad...

I think that you have to start a thread to get the responses sent to your e-mail address. If you are responding to someone else's thread - you don't get an e-mail response. No, as of recently, both the OP and those making replies can check the box to have emails sent to them. I see below the post a follow-up box where it says A copy of further followups will be emailed to this poster. Check here if you would like post replies emailed to you. Please note that you must enable this feature on your Preferences page by checking off 'Allow other users to send you email'. island, I've found that the emails are not sent instantly, and often come through hours later. Sometimes there will be several email replies come into my email at the same time, though they had been posted at different times. I've checked the box now to get follow-ups so will report back when I get reply emails. Sue

Getting Emails Sent To You...3-step Process There are three things you have to do to get emails sent to you when someone posts to a thread you started: Be sure you have a valid/current email address in your profile Again in your profile, be sure you have the "Allow other users to send you email via forms at our site." box checked (at the bottom of the profile page) Be sure to check the box labeled "Check here if you would like copies of follow-ups to your message emailed to you" when you submit your post. (Below the "Message" box) Hmmm...maybe a 4th step...don't forget to "Save Your Member Profile" when you make changes! (button at bottom of profile page) If you do all 3 (or 4!) things, you should get an email when someone posts to your message. Note: Some members have said they still have problems getting emails. I seem to always get emails, but I have noticed that occasionally there will be a several hour delay and once there was a several day delay...I don't know why. Also, check your Junk Mail, sometimes the emails end up there. Add "gardenweb_user@gardenweb.com" to your "safe senders" list as well. If you still don't get emails, check with your internet service provider and be sure emails from GW are not being filtered out as junk before they get to you.
