Where would you put the kitchen in this layout-open to FR or not?

As some of you may have read previously , we are getting construction bids on an addition to our house to create a larger kitchen, and add a mudroom, laundry room behind the garage. First bid shocked us and based on advice here we will continue to get more bids as planned.

In the meantime, I am wondering what YOU would do with our current space if

OPTION 1)you were not going to add an addition at all to the house

or

OPTION 2)the addition was scaled back as shown in red in the last drawing (vs. our addition of the whole length of the house and behind the garage)

Seems like a kitchen could fit nicely here and open up to the family room and to the screen porch and patio area.

Criteria:

-would like a large island to seat at least 5

-nice entertaining space

-maintain a powder room and some closet/cubby space somewhere

-can reduce office area space

-we don't do formal dining so the dining area serves as a breakfast room as well

I may post this in the remodel forum as well, but would love to see what your ideas would be as well, especially for a kitchen behind the family room.

Current kitchen/floorplan:

OPTION 1) Blank floorplan for your ideas!: Can the kitchen be planned better with no addition? just moving walls?

OPTION 2) What if we did this small addition? And maybe remove part of the TV wall in FR to create large island seating open to FR? And kitchen open to screen porch?

OPTION 3) Just fyi, Larger addition originally planned but wondering if we want to spend so much $

Seems like so many options and ways we could potentially save some money.Any thoughts -whether general or specific?

Thanks again for reading along!
