Granite counter - faucet holes

Rachel Parker

We are building a house and they have installed the granite and only have 1 hole drilled/cut for the faucet. I am wondering how many I should have them make - 3 or 4? Of the faucets I have looked at many are either 3 or 4 depending on if the faucet includes a soap dispenser. Do I really need a soap dispenser? Can I still place my soap container on my granite countertop? I am just wondering why all the dispensers? Is it just for aesthetics or can soap harm/stain your granite? I just want to get it right. I was going to go with the 3 hole w/o the soap dispenser but my husband said we should go with the 4 hole and plug it for down the road if we change our minds.

Here is a link that might be useful: faucet I want to get
