Drill only the holes you need. Some faucets only need two holes, some need only one. Don't plan on filling in a hole...that will look really bad. You don't need a soap dispenser, but they sure are handy!! You can sit a soap dispenser on the granite if you prefer though. You really really need to decide on a faucet now though, or don't drill any holes until you do. I am sure you could get the granite people to come back to drill later on (although they will probably charge you a fee).

You need to for SURE pick your faucet, etc, before deciding how many holes to have drilled out. Then you can have your plumber tell you how many holes to have cut. You don't "need" a soap dispenser - but I am sure there are dozens of other things that you don't need in your new kitchen, but you have them because they're cool, and you want them. ;-) We have a soap dispenser. I like it. They're really not that expensive. Less cluttered looking than having a cheap plastic one on top of the granite. Our granite company charged $35 each for extra holes if they did it while they were installing the granite. I believe it was almost double if they had to come back to do it.

I had to have my faucet on hand when they drilled the hole so that the water lined up with the drain and they could also see the size of my soap dispenser. My water on off and my spray are all on the one faucet hole, so you might want to go ahead and purchase the faucet you want so you can't change your mind if they drill all those holes!

Our granite is coming tomorrow and we have the faucet here for him to drill the correct size hole. We ordered the matching soap dispenser online but it hasn't arrived yet. I printed out the specs of the soap disp for him to see and so he will cut the right sized hole for it. I would have everything in your house before he cuts any holes and agree with the others that you should not cut additional holes and filling them in. There are many discussions on here about whether or not you should have a soap dispenser..most of the posters said YES. I also learned from the postings that the soap dispenser should be as close as possible to the sink to catch any drips.

Before drilling any holes you should have everything you plan to install...they need to know not just how many holes, but what size, and where you want them placed.

Get everything now, before drilling...

• faucet,
• if you decide to go with one, soap dispenser(s) [some people put in one for hand soap & one for dish soap]
• again if you need & want one, airswitch for the Garbage Disposal.

Granted, most faucet holes are standard, but what if you select one that's different?

If you're trying to minimize the # of holes in your granite, consider a pull out or pull down faucet w/the handle on the faucet...only one hole needed! (Personally, I prefer a pull out or pull down spray to a side spray, but that's my personal preference...you may not agree.)
