Juparano Santa Cecelia Installation
Comments (2)Don't agonize over how difficult it is to clean. Basically the care for all stone is the same, depending on who you talk to. I have had Santa Cecelia for 6 years. I chose it because of the pattern - you don't see the dirt not even crumbs unless you stand back and look closely or swipe your hand across it and think "where did that come from". I cut on it, roll out pastry on it, even leave my tomatoes to ripen on it, place hot pans on it and no problems. Cleaning is a breeze all I do is use a spray bottle of liquid stone soap sometimes Windex or straight up denatured alcohol (that's what the granite installer told me to do). I also use a granite polish every other month. Currently, I am planning a kitchen remodel which includes reusing my granite. I will post some pic of my old kitchen with the granite for you as soon as I figure out how to upload them. After reviewing comments by other posters with granite counters you will most likely find that the solid color granite (as beautiful and glossy as it is) is difficult to care for since dirt and blemishes are more obvious. I know that you will be happy with your decision Santa Cecelia is extremely popular....See MoreMy White Cabinets w/ Kashmir White Granite Pics
Comments (15)One thing now we're having a hard time deciding is if we want to have a soap dispenser hole drilled. The faucet kit came with one. I was reading another thread on the Kitchen Forums with a lot of valid pros and cons for having/not having one and using the NeverMT underneath....See Morepics of granite to go with white cabinets
Comments (4)We have giallo napoleone and really like it. It's similar to Santa Cecicilia Gold and a more tan (less yellow) than new venetian gold. Whatever color you pick, I'd go look at the slabs in person because the colors and tones really vary from slab to slab....See MoreCan anyone post pics of Super White granite and white cabinets?
Comments (10)Dark photo of super white on a white island right after counter installed in my kitchen. Don't give up on the super white. I looked at 5 different slabs before I found one that would work for us. It really varies from a med/dark gray to a swirly white & light gray. Eventually I started calling the fabricators and asking about their super white. If I got someone knowledgeable they would describe it and send a photo. Be very specific about what you want - I wanted it to have some white but nice contrast so the very gray and swirly white/light gray didn't work. The slab we found also has some areas that are almost peach (it is very light, just an accent tone in the background) that I loved with our red birch perimeter cabinets. The stone is called by many names - supreme white, white princess, white fantasy - but asking for white quartzite and sharing some of the names got me the stuff I wanted. Note - I still went to look at the slabs even if the photos were a little off - often they look lighter and whiter in person. Here is a link to the photos I collected on quartzite slabs in my area (Boston) so you can see how different they can be. http://s932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/sparklekitty_kitchen/White%20Quartzite%20or%20Granite%20Slabs/ The last two are of the slab we purchased. Note that the 2nd photo was from the fabricator and it shows the slab darker than it is in person. I have also included a link to my recent posting with all the photos of the counter installed. Again the photos are dark, but I am very happy. The paint color is BM Dove Wing, but we also considered BM white dove.
