Tile backsplash for granite counter--- anyone have pictures?
Comments (8)Your bathroom sounds very pretty! Please don't forget to post pics when you are done.... I'm doing something similar to Steve... I am using a white 4x4 in a running bond pattern up to about 4 feet all around the room. My vanity is an antique dresser and the top is marble/quartzite (Vermont White) which is grey/white. The tile will extend about 10" above the vanity top....See MoreFull granite backsplash? To have or not?
Comments (38)We also have a wine cellar Crystal so I tend to stand and look at the view and drink wine :oP That's the cartoon version of our view, but if you look at the pic with the stove, on the right is the side of that window and you can see it's pretty much the same view. We're about three stories up above the lake, but the house is right on the lake (it's a five level townhouse). We have that view from two sides of the place. That view is really how I got myself into this remodel mess LOL The place was a vintage cheap 1980's townhouse...and I'm turning it into something else I hope..just because of that stupid view we HAD to have! So this thread now comes into play as we continue...I'm thinking of doing a full marble backsplash in the bathroom after seeing a couple of them here. Some of the lovely curved transitions from short backsplash to high are pretty fabulous....See MoreTo granite backsplash or not to granite backsplash?
Comments (9)I don't like the 4" backsplash for the following reasons: - if you are doing a decorative tile for the rest of the backsplash, you are now decreasing and cutting off your design area by 4". - the 4" creates a little "shelf" that gets dusty, just one more thing to clean. - added expense to install the 4" piece of granite along your countertop. - people who say you "need it" to cover a gap between the countertop and the tiled wall just don't have good installers. My kitchen walls are extremely out-of-plumb, but my tile backsplash meets my granite countertop with no gaps cause I had experienced installers. - IMHO it looks dated, since the 4" idea was popular with formica in the '70's. I would only do a 4" backsplash if I were doing no other backsplash at all and just leaving drywall on the rest of the wall. And even in that case, I'd try to make it a little higher, like 5" or 6"....See More2 inch granite backsplash - do you have one?
Comments (3)Hi, I don't have a profile in my kitchen, but I do have them in my small bathroom. I don't know if I want one in the kitchen because the profile takes up room on the counter and is one more hortizontal surface to wipe. That said, I like the look. I guess the number of seams depends on your counter design and if they use the long length of the slab to fabricate the backsplash. You and your fabricator need to discuss this option. Karen Ps.
