Question for those of you who have pullout fillers (spice/etc)
Comments (7)There is a difference between a natural finish, in which a wood is finish sanded and a poly or other type of top coat applied, and UNfinished. UNfinished wood has not been protected, may not be smooth, and cannot be cleaned and used as finished wood without it looking bad quickly. Rev-a-shelf does not finish its products to match your cabinets. They are all shipped as natural finished maple, but are NOT unfinished. If you actually got UNfinished, you or your KD or kitchen installer should contact them to correct this error, and it should have been caught before they were installed. If there are pencil markings on the natural finish they were almost certainly put there by the installer for the purpose of measuring and installing them. If you want them painted or stained to match your cabinets, they will need to be stripped, because there already IS a clear finish on them, and then REfinished to match your cabinets. There is no reason that cannot be done, but you would have to arrange to have it done by someone separately. If I bought pullouts and organizers from my cabinet company with my original cabinet order, I would expect them to match. If they come from 2 different companies as separate orders, they couldn't match. Rev-a-shelf has no way of matching your cabinets. My SuperSusan, from my cabinet company, match the interior of my cabinets. My pullout, from Rev-a-shelf, has a natural maple finish. I don't mind it, but if you do, have it refinished. Comments (10)Thanks all. We literally layed out all the tile last night. We layed out the insert also and glad we did. We discovered that it caused the first row of tile to be layed a certain way so that the staggered look could flow properly. We also decided to start the staggered look at the foyer, horizontal to the door. Where the foyer turns we will lay a decorative strip to divide where the two patterns meet. Then we will start the stagger at the garage door, also horizontal. When you stand at the T in the hall/foyer you can see the horizontal staggered pattern at both doorways. By having the stagger in hall be at the turn in foyer rather than ending at the T, it allows the hall to look bigger. Having the transitional decorative strip at the T seemed to chop the hall off too much. From way up on the stairs looking down at the tile, the strip looks good. The bath and laundry will now have a staggered look rather than a diamond angle. I will post pics when done. Magothyrivergirl- Hope you read my post in fireplaces about the paint issue I had with KozyHeat. It was a nightmare that at least got resolved. Considering a granite tile fell off wall onto the back of my head, resulting in several staples- ouch!- I was not pleased to come across this paint issue. But in the end it looks really nice. I will post pics of that once I get he floors all done....See Morequestion for those who love white kitchens

Comments (3)I think if you're after a beachy feel then Ice Mist will be too cold in feel. Okay wait, keep in mind I'm saying this based on my own experience -- I have no idea how the lighting is in your home. But, Dove White does have a certain warmth to it without venturing into the creamy category, and TO ME, that warmth reads as more "beachy" than Ice Mist. I can't speak to the Daltile because I'm not familiar with it, but anything with the word "arctic" in it means, to me, a blue undertone. Again, I'm afraid that's not going to give you the "beachy" feel -- maybe a more polar feel. Brrr. I happen to like an icy environment myself! That's why I have those cold colors in my own kitchen, but that's what I was after....See Morejillandmatt
