kitchen reveal - completed staged kitchen - photo heavy
Comments (102)Sorry! It didn't send me any notice that the kitchen had been commented on so I didn't see the questions until I went to show someone the pics of my kitchen! Hopefully these answers aren't too late to help. Carynia, after much agita, I went with Antique white by polyblend (at home depot). I have it listed in the below posting. I see there that I made the comment that I could've went darker on the grout, however, I barely even remember that sentiment, so the color is just fine. http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2439662/kitchen-reveal-almost-completed-not-staged-kitchen-need-tile-help AvatarWalt, I would totally put in that linoleum! There are so many benefits to linoleum that I'm sure you already know. If the wood floor had been in terrible shape, that would've been my first choice, especially since it would be appropriate for the age of the house. bobcatralph, that magazine was "IT". After looking for over a year for inspiration I had at least a hundred magazines and books (that I just gave away). So many were beautiful, but I just kept coming back to that magazine. I could choose between any Sherwin Williams paint color that I wanted for the cabinets, and in the end I tried to get the one that would be closest to that magazine (taking into consideration the lighting in my kitchen). I'm pretty sure I'll always keep that magazine (and a few others that gave me great ideas). Ps... another favorite color that I almost went with was Aleutian.... once I decided against white, it was very hard to choose between the two, but I'm sure I couldn't be happier than I am with the color I chose. Thank you everyone for your kind words!...See MoreReveal: Long & Narrower White, Grey & Green EIK
Comments (98)Bump!!!!!!! I was beginning my remodel at this time last year and i must have missed this.......it's so beautiful it deserves a second go round at the top of the forum for all the people who missed it. There aren't NEARLY enough comments on this kitchen. people must'vebeen outside enjoying the summer and not in the kitchen forums. Total eye candy....See MoreCherry and White Granite Kitchen Reveal - Lots of Photos!
Comments (42)@beth09, there was a recent discussion about built-in cutting boards here and I was surprised that there were people who didn't like them. I was also surprised about how many of them had major concerns about sanitation with them. Mine haven't made me sick yet. Every older kitchen I've had, including my current one, has had those type of cutting boards. I love them. I have three in my current kitchen and they are one reason why I'm reusing my cabinet boxes as I'm not finding these type of cutting boards in newer cabinet lines unless you go custom, definitely not in my budget. I hope you have better luck finding them in the cabinet line you choose....See MoreKitchen reveal - a long time coming.
Comments (51)oldbat: I know what you mean. There was nothing "wrong" with the old kitchen. Many people here thought I was crazy to paint the cabs. However, it was a dark space (and being located in the northwest corner of the house doesn't help); and while I may have been able to get away with keeping the cabs "as is" and just change out the granite and backsplash to lighten it up, we just felt that the cabinets sucked the light out of the space. Also, I wasn't crazy about how the old cabinets looked with the floor. I really dislike our floor, but just couldn't wrap my head around refinishing them (3000sf worth). They are quite dated; even though the house is only 11 years old. Every time I thought about other options, I kept going back to painting the cabs. I have a track record of making poor design choices and regretting my decisions, but this was one time I am really happy with the outcome....See MoreHolly- Kay
