Kitchen Forum Cookbook

It has been so great to see the responses on the KAW and KIA threads . It was suggested that we should have a Kitchen Forum Cookbook. My sweet DH has offered to help me use Dreamweaver and create a cookbook.

If you will e-mail each recipe , one at a time, and put the title in the Subject line I will save them and compile. They will be sent to you in PDF form in ...let's say 6 months. We will get through the holidays and hopefully have a wonderful collection.

Keep this on the front page and we will see what we get. Use this address...it is also easy to use "My Page" e- mail if you wish.

Try a kneaded eraser. You will find it in the art supply section of stores. If nothing else it will remove the dust. You knead it and then press it on the paper and remove it then knead again. You can also use it as an eraser. I keep some of my cookbooks in zippered binders with a label on the spine that tells me which books are inside. It makes for easy organization especially of small cookbooks

I think you'll find that the Kitchen Table is a fun diversion. Like Gina said, nothing to do with kitchens, but it's a nice group who share lots of things, from family and work, to cars or sharing fun websites or games or whatever. Just like visiting with some old friends. Gina's right, that most forums have their own flavor, and you know most of the people who frequent them. I don't bake but I have a few cupcake books on display, I see nothing wrong with this !!!! I bought them cause I thought they were pretty in my kitchen shelves. And I love cupcakes. I also buy books as souvenirs from travel to interesting places. I read a lot of novels and biographies but I pass those along, what's the point in keeping them? I used to have a whole library of books in a former house but I don't have much storage anymore except for maybe 50 books, so I purge every year when the piles become too big. For me a pretty book is more interesting to look at than a statuette or an ornament, I leave some nice looking books lying around just because they look good on my coffee table, is that "books for looks" decorating ? I'm guilty of that for sure.

One more vote for Cook's Illustrated...any title...thought there are some overlaps between books and magazine issues, IME. I agree that the disquisition before each recipe has really allowed me to learn about technique and ingredients in general. I bet I have made dozens of their recipes over the years and only remember one being ho-hum. I think the new Soups and Stews title that Wizard linked to would be perfect for him. (I may add it to my list, too...) I also subscribe to the magazine and love to pull out the old issues for a given season. Right now all the Sept/Oct issues are close at hand for Fall cooking inspiration. It is a pain, however, to try to remember which issue contains a certain recipe I liked. That's the beauty of the large books. I also have a thought that I should photocopy favorite recipes for my notebook, or make an index of some kind for the magazines.

GREAT IDEA! Some suggestions or requests:

1) a section with kid-pleasing recipes

2) maybe a section for those going through remodels of reasonably good microwave or toaster oven meals

What a fantastic response. So send the recipes to my e-mail. DH says put the title of the recipe in the "subject" line. Then we need a picture and or a slide show link is good too if you are demonstarting a technique...like when I did the breadmaking and rhome did her wonderful demo. So we need the link in the e-mail.

The idea , for the web site, is that for ex. if you want a cake recipe. You will go to cakes...and you will see pictures of all the cakes and the name of what they are and when you click on the picture you will get the recipe and the bigger picture also.

How does that sound? We can have whatever categories you want...food prep for remodel time is a GREAT one. Easy nutritious wonderful ways to share meal time while under such stress . What a fantastic way to help everyone keep their sanity and help relieve all the upset of the demo/construction time.

OK so it is upto everyone to do this. Recipe/pic-slideshow...my e-mail and I will start saving them in folders. Also if it isn't obvious...say dessert or salad etc then I need to know what category...so maybe Category-recipe name-picture...I can hardly wait. What a great group this is! c

Super!! Super!! I was going to suggest a section called "Help, I have no kitchen!!" We lived in our last new house for weeks without a real kitchen and I would have loved that. Thanks for doing this!

Caroline, I'm so glad you are going to do this! Now when my kitchen is complete my family will not only be grateful to have real cooked food again, but some of the best recipes ever!
