Fabulous!!!

Very pretty! Can't wait to see more photos. Very warm feeling, love the cabinetry color.

This is the wall of cabinets to the right as you walk into our kitchen from the living room. We patterned this layout off a picture I saw on houzz.com. We've got the fridge of course (am loving the French door style, previously had side by side), microwave with storage above and counter space and storage below, double oven, then the pantry with pull-out drawers and a broom closet. Stain color is Fruitwood by Sherwood from Sherwin Williams, granite is Ice Blue from Pacific Shores. We had the cabinets custom made with a North Little Rock, AR cabinet maker, James Hardman. Could not have asked for a better or more talented crew. Our appliances are from the Kenmore Elite line.

Another angle...one of my favorite things is the bookcase for my cookbook collection. I have a lot (I do more reading than cooking..lol)and I wanted a place to display them and make them easy to get to. Also glad we decided to do the glass doors on either side of the cooktop.

One thing I wish I'd known....I wanted cup pulls on the drawers and knobs on the doors, and ended up using more knobs because I didn't think about the panels on the fronts of the more narrow drawers being too skinny for cup pulls. I guess every remodel has it's "live and learn" moments!

It's gorgeous! What is your granite and BS tile? It looks so spacious. I LOVE your oven wall.

One last picture. Per the post above, our granite is Ice Blue. It definitely looked different and didn't have the blue cast as the sample did...very important to pick out your slab.Got it at Pacific Shore in Maumelle, AR. Our backsplash tile was the Baja Cream Tumbled Stone from Dal-Tile and the glass and tumbled stone behind the cooktop-it's name escapes me at the minute, but I'll look it up and post with the kitchen blog.

We are especially proud of the table and chairs we found at a local flea market in a scuffed up cherry finish...solid wood and nicely made. We refinished with a Rustoleum cabinet transformation kit and I covered the chairs with some houndstooth I found at Hobby Lobby...fabric for all 4 chairs for under $15. Our first crafty project! ; ) Still decorating, waiting on blinds.

That is a good looking cookbook collection and I especially love that Good Housekeeping book from the late 50's early 60's which is perched on the baker's rack. I was gifted with an original copy way, way, way back. That comprehensive guide took me from a young bride all the way to now, being an old lady. It is my all time favorite, and still, to this day, has delicious recipes. Reading recipes can be addictive.

Gw sure has been a terrific resource for you to help you create such a functional,, interesting and lovely space for your family.

And to westsider 40, I've had many of my cookbooks for a long time, including a red Good Housekeeping, but just picked up that old blue one at a flea market. Couldn't resist!

Oh, and I forgot to answer another question from above. We used maple for our cabinets. The posts on the island are rubberwood. They were considerably cheaper than the maple and stained out great.

I have a question for y'all now. We have blinds ordered, and I'm looking for a picture to go next to the table. It seems a little blank though on the window side. Do I need an open decorative shelf over the kitchen window or something else hung there?
