6' granite backsplash

Hoping to get some great advice from the experts on this forum. You have helped me before and I am sure you will have some great ideas this time. In my kitchen I have a 6" granite backsplash with matching granite counters. I have a 42" range that does not have a "backsplash" on it. I have a gap between the wall and the range because of the gas attachment. It is troublesome because stuff falls back behind the range, and it doesn't look very good. It looks odd to have the 6 inch backsplash and then nothing for 42 inches and then 6" on the other side of the range. What do you think? I have thought about putting a matching (if I can find one) additional piece of granite across there, or maybe a black piece of granite since the range is black. Or taking the backsplash off and using it behind the range. I plan to tile with clear glass subway sized tiles once I figure out this issue. Thanks for your advice and perhaps if you are local to the DC area, leads on who might tackle this job.
