Not overly impressed. I love the kitchen(s) that the gentleman from Italy did (does). Now that is one gorgeous kitchen.

Unless you are really tall, how do you reach to get the cabinet doors down? I agree it looks like our server room. The faucet on-off "switch" is right where you would be moving dishes in and out of the sink. That means they would probably get chipped a lot. Of course, that assumes that one has dishes (you should see DB, dear boyfriend's dish collection--everything is chipped, nothing has handles on it, etc.) Everytime we go into a store and I see a cup and saucer, I ask him what that has that his dishes don't. Handles!

Seems industrial, cold and impersonal. Looks like a very efficient and spacious layout though.

Mr. Pandy, I was about to say that! The appliances look like a bank of mainframes. Very unappealing, unless you like to eat bits for breakfast.

I don't know any men who would like that kitchen, and I work with computer geeks (as well as being one myself).

No, the difficulty is usually in closing them. :-)

DH and I both love modern design- but that's just sterile and boring.

I like it-- light years better than white painted cabs.

I love it too. Looks cool, sleek, efficient. I've always loved wood - especially the pale uniform grained wood - and aluminum and the accents here of both with the glass are just wonderful.

I like what they said about there not being enough Windex in the world to keep it clean. That kitchen is obviously for the very wealthy bachelor with a cleaning lady! And oh boy do I feel bad for that cleaning lady!

was thinking the same thing about the Windex, but have to say that I think it is pretty swanky!! I really like it, and would probably like it even more if I was a guy. :)

Sorry, I don't like that kitchen. If I am thinking of a man's kitchen, I think of the recent thread that discussed Lance Armstrong's kitchen. It looks masculine, comfortable, someone can actually cook in it/grill some steaks/drink some beers, and not think about fingerprints or glossy cabinets.

I do not think it is about "masculine" or "feminine". It is about style. I am also not a big fan of traditional/country styles. I am a contemporary gal, so I like it. Glad I am not alone here, I was a little intimidated by traditional/shabby chick majority on this forum.

Well, as one of the "traditional chick majority," I think that kitchen looks sterile and uninviting. On the other hand, I have seen many extremely contemporary kitchens that, although not what I'd want to live with every day, I'd LOVE to visit frequently at a friend's house.

One shot I did linger on for a long time: the photo with my soon-to-be-beloved 36" inch Miele induction cooktop!

BTW, no reason to be intimidated ... I think all tastes are welcome on this forum.

I understand what you are saying. BTW, we will make our future kitchen contemporary towards traditional just to a degree when it will feel inviting and warm. I used to love pure traditional and even country styles. We all evolve... One thing I never liked for some reason is "shabby chick" artificial aging of things. I guess I just do not like any artificial stuff: silk flowers, fake wood and stone panels, etc. Again, it is just me, I respect other people's choices. And I like to see EVERY GOOD design, no matter of style. So many talented people on this forum!

I do appreciate the look of this Porsche Kitchen. It is not necessarily livable for the average person of course :0) It might feel like living in a contemporary art museum...

It's funny because my new kitchen will be Victorian/cottagey but I plan to add some contemporary touches like a SS counter around my sleek, non-traditional-looking induction cooktop. I also have my eye on some lovely modern-looking faucets.

BTW, I run screaming in terror from fake flowers, dried wreaths and knicks-knacks/tchotchke of any kind. I guess I'm a traditional gal with a minimalist streak!

One should also consider a style of his/her home when planning a kitchen like this Porsche one. It will not work for my colonial home for example.

it's irritating that kitchens like this are viewed as "male" while more traditional kitchens are, by implication, "female".

i'm a male who loves old homes, old vintage looking kitchens, and dislikes the design style shown in the kitchen above for various reasons. i also strongly dislike fake flowers, dried wreaths, and knick knacks. but love beat-up old farm tables, butcher block that's been cut on for years, milk paint, and wavy glass.

most women i know hate the various gender stereotypes/assumptions that people make about them. men are no different.

for me is a wonderful well design product... and I like even though is a pure german design.
I saw in person.. and I have only 1 thing to say... that is a really MEN kitchen because I will never allow little children go around the island, the corners are made in a very sharp aluminum.

Maybe it would be better to call it a bachelor kitchen then, not a man's kitchen? I must admit, it does scream MASCULINE to me. I think that guy Jeff from Flipping Out would feel so much at home in that kitchen. Of course he has a live-in housekeeper to keep all those shiny, reflective surfaces pristine!

Now that I've started the thread, I suppose I should offer an opinion, hmmm? If I were male, I think I'd feel patronized. Remember (I'm too young for it but I've heard about it) when Dodge first tried to make a car appealing to women circa 1957, which was called La Femme, came only in pink, and had as its big selling point a matching pink umbrella? This has a shoe's-on-the-other-foot-now feel, including the cabinet doors that close (sort of) like car doors. The faucet is cool in a don't-hurt-yourself kind of way, but overall the kitchen just feels too marketed, if that makes any sense.

I'm a gal, and I LOVE that kitchen! I like Lance Armstrong's too - I like all kinds of designs but I lean toward ultra-modern.

This is the most fun thread I've seen in a long time! Everyone is actually revealing more of their personalities than even in the 'Tell Us about Yourself' posts!

Subjectively it's hard to argue with anyone's points...it is a matter of taste, but at least it allows us to discuss different styles than what some of us obviously feel are prevalent in the forum.

I love all Porsche design stuff, and I'm not really insulted or patronized by the "Man's Kitchen" moniker; if it had neon beer signs and girly posters pinned up everywhere I guess I'd be more inclined to feel that way (maybe)...and Lance's kitchen is cool too (then again it's about 25'X50' huge)

BTW, I'm a SoCal classic car nut, so any any lady who knows what a 1956 Dodge La Femme is, well, I'm in love...

Modesign, my 1st car was a '68 Mustang. My next car was a '67 Mustang. I loved them! Kitchen-wise, I just don't want a kitchen that looks like everyone else's, which -- I hope -- I've managed to achieve.

Poggenpohl kitchens are xpensive, the PD line is even more $$$. This type of kitchen is meant to appeal to about 5% of the US public and is more about branding and marketing than kitchens. Didn't anyone notice the subject was in W. Hollywood? Not exactly a cross section of middle America. The 5 % that do like this stuff can't stand the raised panel cherry, crown molding, which glaze should I do garden web? cabinets that grace the pages of 23 out of 24 mags on the newstand anyway. You don't want to deprive them of their right to be TKO, just cause you don't like Teutonic design............ do you?

DH likes it- says it looks like a giant tool box! Likes the opening one drawer and having shallower ones accessible inside. He also appreciates the fact it makes women want to go naked- ummm. But he would exchange the fridge front finish for one the colour of fingerprints! :>)

I asked my DH if he liked this kitchen and the first words out of his mouth were no thanks, it looks like an office which is the last place I want to be when I'm home.

for men kitchen I was meaning ADULT kitchen.
I will afraid to have that kitchen in my house and have friends over with children.

A very unique fun to visit kitchen but I do not like cabinet doors with no hardware since it reminds me of my kitchen which I don't care for. I only like my new LG French door refrigerator and my beautiful kitchen table with the wheat-back chairs in my kitchen. One day, I am going to change my kitchen's cabinets by staining the kitchen cabinets a bit darker than the oak that is on them now and add hardware knobs. Then when I change my dishwasher to match my refrigerator (it is on its last legs right now) and put a new floor in, then I will love my kitchen. I do like the layout of my kitchen and the view of my backyard with the woods.

Very interesting kitchen. But I agree with the reviewer saying where is the beer dispenser! My DH's ideal kitchen would include a beer dispenser coming out of a huge walk-in cooler. Plenty of room for several kegs and enough room to hang a side of beef that he can slice off when he wants. Then have an indoor grill with a big exhaust fan to grill the meat and maybe an occasional vegetable, LOL. My DH has other likes, but he is mostly a beer and meat fan.
