How charming this room is! A great big kitchen with stone FP! I agree with pps, an arm chair on either side of the FP. Also try moving the table closer to the kitchen and swap out the fan -- put it in the kitchen. What is to the left of the table, Living Room? What is the door to the right? I always wanted a kitchen big enough to have a cozy chair and ottoman with a side table. A place to read cookbooks and magazines etc... can you take more pic's of this room, showing all sides of the room?

No adult ever enjoys sitting on a bench. They're difficult to get in and out of and not very comfortable. Having said that, if you want one then go ahead and get one. Your family will be the ones eating there so make the right decision based on your needs.

Really lovely space!! My first thought, was do you you need the window coverings? I like as much light as possible, but if a neighbor can see in, I completely understand. We did the panels on rings as suggested above for my parents slider. It was very easy for them to close at night. The linen look roman shades are very pretty, maybe even with some accent trim. Or woven wood blinds to pick up on your table? Considering your lighting, it doesn't look bad. The one over the table looks a bit small in comparison to your pendant lights. You can google for the 'correct' formula for size and placement. I tend to like down lights over an island if you do a lot of prep work. It keeps the focus on what you're doing so not to loose a finger! Per the dining light, agree on hanging it lower. I like your first one. The second photo looks to me like it would be a dust catcher inside that glass. So for me, I wouldn't want any sort of globes that faced upward, as dusting is not my favorite! Smiling is....;) (Elf joke-sorry!) So many options, just some examples...

I just went through this dilemma with my kitchen and family room combo. The UCL (under cabinet) strips were replaced with 4000 (previously 3000), so I tested out 4000 in the recessed, pendants, and table lamps. Dismal results overall. I love the new UCL, but had to use 3000 everywhere else. Happy with the results and, at least where I live, 3000 is much easier to replace when necessary.
