Paint color to tone down peach floors?
Comments (13)Personally peach makes my skin crawl, as does orange. I moved into a home that had orange countertops that we were not going to be able to replace right away, there wasn't a thing wrong with them except for the fact that they were orange, so I opted to paint my moldings white, put up white 2" blinds, and paint the walls a soft light green, looked almost mossy, tanish, but definately green. It changed the look of the whole kitchen. I actually didn't mind the counters after those changes were made. It really toned down that orange and peach color it was giving the walls and my cabinets. So as they say.....GO GREEN!...See MoreHelp tone down the "cool" tones & improve flow with warm kitchen
Comments (62)So, just a quick update. Still waiting on the rug & pillows to arrive. In the meantime a World Market *just* opened up near us and they had cinnamon pillows! I also found a funky wooden "tray" that I liked. Do the old pilllows go? Or do I need to find something else to tie it in? Also, thinking of hitting West Elm tomorrow. Browsing their website I found this cluster of vases I like - might put these on the console. Maybe the mantle? I need something warm on the TV console too.. I also found these blue ones, don't think I like them as much. They also had some cherry wood ones, but I think if I redo the large framed artwork I won't need them up there. Maybe use these for the TV console? Or keep looking? Also saw this chair at World Market that I like, but I'm going to wait until the carpet comes in. It's getting there!...See MoreDilemma: Exterior paint color to downplay pink/orange brick
Comments (15)I guess I didn't say that I am trying to deemphasize the brick. Not sure if you can tell from the photo but they are Roman style bricks, lacking the interesting dark colors and white stain of more traditional flat brick. It seems like blues and greys would make those bright pink and orange tones pop. My original thinking was white with dark accents. But I do like the dark exterior colors that are popular now. I worry that the dark colors will just make the bright pink/orange really stand out. Ultimately I guess I am looking for the house to look fresh without changing the good bones that it has. I am trying to embrace the look of the brick. Someone want to talk about how to tone down the brick without painting it?...See MoreHow to tone down orange brick
Comments (22)I know brown is a dirty word in our gray world, but this update looks nice. She had gray garage doors and redid in brown that harmonizes much better: https://pinklittlenotebook.com/instantcurbappealwithpaint/ I don’t know this color, but it looks like dark taupe. Looks good with the orange brick and white windows. Unless you’ve always wanted a white house anyway, I would not go through the work and expense (and possibility of it turning out bad ) of limewashing this brick for the reason of being unhappy with other factors. It’s nice-looking brick as is and just needs to be paired with complimentary colors. I’ve seen threads here of posters very unhappy with how their limewashing turned out, and now it’s permanent. Changing your front door color would make such a difference. If budget allows, I’d replace with wood. ETA: I do love the inspo house you posted, sorry I didn’t see it when I posted before. This limewashing looks fantastic. I’m just curious what color the brick was before. It’s a stunner. This I would do! I just wouldn’t do a solid, all-over white or those methods that the house looks like it was in a fire or has a spotty disease. It takes a true talent to look this natural. https://servicefirstpainting.com/2020/02/heavily-distressed-lime-wash-in-mckinney-texas/...See MoreRelated Professionals
