Can you share pictures of your yard?
Comments (28)Yep, Emily's right on. There were several COLD nights this spring and I had to bring all my plumeria inside again. Had I planted them straight in the ground I wouldn't have been able to do it, and probably would have lost half the forest. Another plus of plunging is if temps get cold where you are before they're totally dormant, there is less stress on the plant when you bring them in. I have a few "experimentation" plants which I plan on bare rooting, but the precious ones stay potted. I drill lots of holes in the pots along the sides and bottom to let the roots roam the planter, which they like. Someone suggested melting holes; I will do this next year so I don't crack as many pots! If I were closer I'd offer to baby sit your trees til your house is done, but alas, visitation would be difficult since I'm at least 6 hours away from you ;) Enjoy the planning! Comments (4)Thanks Geekette! that was a picture I was looking for! Just wanted to get the idea. We have a very traditional house (1920's farmhouse, with wainscotting in the bathroom) and I didn't want a look that would be too contemporary. I think the cove would be okay, right? Thanks Tom999 and flyleft--its good to hear something positive about the Corian. Makes me feel more confident in our decision. Now I just have to price it!!...See MoreCould you show me your couch ottoman?
Comments (7)Oh MY Gosh!!! I just moved all that heavy stuff by myself. Now that it's done I don't really like it this way but I know one thing..... I'M DEAD!!!!....And the arrangement will have to stay that way until I can get DH to help me move it again. Note to self...."DARN! this is the way he wanted it to begin with instead of buying more furniture!". Oh my.............. Valinsv, I agree the browns are becoming overpowering. I really didn't want leather to begin with but once we started looking I liked the individual pieces. Now my whole house is brown! LOL I put the 2 rockers by the window. I think it look very nice and I do like the idea of a round table at that window instead of the square one. Based on the TV's location I don't think facing the couches together would work. Plus we would loose the outside view from both couches that way. Though I agree it is a nice look. caroleoh, Now that I've moved everything (Oh my, ouch, what did I do?) I agree the rug looks better diagonally. It seems to help focus the room with it placed in direction with the wood planks. If however, I move the rug back to diagonal then the couches will pivot slightly and totally block the room off from the front door. It will also move the couch a bit closer to the woodstove than I would like it to be. I actually was hoping to see a big square ottoman from this thread. I tend to stay away from the southwest cowboy or indian influenced furniture. The floor lamp might work in my library/office. View from upstairs...... View from front door doesn't look to inviting to me. And, if I pivot the rug back to diagonal then the couch will move closer to the fireplace blocking the room off.........See MoreCould you share your kitchen desk area photos?
Comments (2)Here's mine. It's a "stand-up" desk that is 60" wide and 15" deep beneath the big TV (the dining table and chairs are 3 ft. away if I need to sit down). The top three drawers on the right hold desk stuff and the bottom one holds our dog's belongings. The cabinet on the left hides the cable box and some liquor bottles. (This photo was taken when we finished the kitchen in July 2008; the countertop now is strewn with papers, pens, notes, etc.)...See MoreSueb20
